Not a household name but I have a few of his recordings and I suspect others here will too. RIP.
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

One of the big guns of Polish classical music. With Easter coming up, I think I'll give his St Luke Passion a spin.

I have often played Polish Requiem or Utrenja around this time of the year. I shall probably play them again. Penderecki certainly composed many radical and gripping pieces of music. As big as he was in the art music world, it's the fact that his music was used in Hollywood films that always gets mentioned first. I have often wondered how many people who would never listen to this kind of stuff elsewhere have been exposed to his works through cinema - and perhaps even grown to like some of it.

    RIP.

RIP, one of my favs. Will definitely play some stuff tonight.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

Never let good music get in the way of making a profit.

I'm only here to reglaze my bathtub.

As if the music weren't intense enough, it's really a trip to follow the score:

A great loss, he was very closely connected to my Hometown Münster.

By coincidence I pulled out Twin Peaks Livited Event Series Soundtrack from the shelf and noticed this Threnody To The Victims Of Hiroshima was used in one of the episodes:
