    Prince - N.E.W.S.

Hopefully this is proggy enough for this forum

Anyone a fan of Prince's N.E.W.S. album? It was a double album - track names were "North", "East", "West", and "South". All the tunes were exactly 14 minutes in length and there isn't a vocal in sight.

I think it features some of Prince's most amazing writing and playing, but I think it's out of print and you never really hear anything about it.

    Anyone?

Yes, excellent record. If you like that you may also like the two Madhouse albums, which are instrumental fusion with Eric Leeds on sax and Prince on everything else.

The Estate should really put this out again. I expect they will, in time.

Funny story: this is the only Prince I ever bought. I got it based on a review in which the guitar-playing was compared with Allan Holdsworth. Mmm, didn't hear much from that, but oké, I can say I have Prince in my collection

Really good LP... one of his more ambitious I'd say.

I missed this on release, it was only after the tragic event that I came across this album. There’s plenty of classic Prince I find more compelling, this seemed like an experiment for him, albeit played with skill and panache.

You said it better than me Sunlight! Ambitious was a poor choice of words. Experimental certainly is spot on. I've played this at parties and no one ever guess's it's Prince.

I just read this LP was cut in one day!
