    RIP Kenny Rogers

81 years old. The man was ubiquitous when I was in my teens and twenties. He lived a long and prosperous life.

This is heartbreaking. I just felt a part of my youth pass by. He was a favorite of my grandparents. I constantly heard his songs at their house in the '80s. My grandfather even looked like him. RIP Kenny, you were the king of country.

Looks like the condition he's in not so good, he knew when to fold'em.

    Bummer.

My parents played his records a lot when I was a kid. Not really one that stood out for me among the country artists they enjoyed, but somehow there's still a nostalgia there. RIP.

    Rest in peace, Kenny.

I can remember going around singing "Coward of the County" when I was about 5-6 years old. One of my earliest memories associated with music.

    RIP.

I knew some people went to a few Gatlin Brothers gigs back in '80s and '90s where usually there'd be at least one incident of someone yelling out "this one's for Becky!"

We used to watch his old variety show back in the day when he was still in the First Edition. Growing up in the south he was one of the first major country/pop crossover star, even before Dolly.

    RIP

This is sad. Always appreciated his hit songs and smooth voice.
    RIP Kenny

Hey, it's okay. I was reading elsewhere and somebody put the Footloose video up, thinking it was yet another Kenny...

    RIP

    I well remember the Conditions.
Perhaps finding the happy medium is harder than we know.

Yeah, hard to believe that's the same guy who later sing The Gambler, Lady, Lucille and Islands In The Stream.

He was one of those guys who seemed to be omnipresent on TV for awhile. Seemed like he was on every talk show, variety show, and awards show for a couple years.

Anyone remember his feature film Six Pack? Not a great movie, but it did have a memorable moments. They were playing the song from that movie, Love Will Turn You Around, over the PA at work for awhile.

Lady was written by Lionel Richie. It made him very wealthy thanks to Kenny.

Saw that in theaters as a kid. Good stuff.
On family road trips in the 80s, Kenny's greatest hits was one of the mainstay cassettes in the car that we'd all enjoy.

First Edition is really good. I had no idea...

As good as the original version is, I think this heavier version from 1972 tops it.
