I blame Wynton, what was the question?

I have MySpeaker - Myamp Inside and love them. HiFi !

What is it that you are after?
Direct connect to the headphone jack or a USB DAC?
Bluetooth?
Rocking out or "listening" + conference call clarity?
These guys like a Mackie CR4BT

I have an old set of https://audioengineusa.com/ A5+ self powered. Pretty big on the desk, although the A3 is the upgrade recco.
The set I use around the house is an Edifier https://www.edifier.com/us/en S1000DB
My middle name is overkill

I absolutely love my audio engine 5 powered speakers FWIW. Not very expensive and sounds great to my ears.
Just want to play music from my laptop in the apartment

Look at the Edifier S1000DB, bluetooth from your laptop, good sound for a medium sized room.

I know very little about computer speakers, but I bought Logitech MS2200, which looked cool (double woofer-type), but I have no idea if they're any good outside the fact that I placed them in a perfect triangle with my head and connected with a small audio jack
They give a +/- satisfying sound for my use and need, and it certainly beats relying on the laptop in-built speakers
But compared to my Hi-fi, it's pure crap, especially if I step out of the triangle position I set up.

I got some used Logitech powered speakers; they aren’t great, but they are a marked improvement on the crappy built-in speakers in my Toshiba lappy. For $5 I can’t complain. But I would like better sound (I do have a pair of Boston Acoustics bookshelf speakers just gathering dust, but I need some kind of amplifier to route sound through them).

Something like this will let you use your existing stereo system to receive bluetooth to play audio from your laptop or other device. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This bluetooth speaker sounds remarkably good for its size.

We just got one today in the mail, sent as a bonus item by a local furniture store where we bought a new couch a few weeks ago.
I've thought about that: trying to connect hifi-made speakers, but I don't think it would work, because all thoose small speakers need their own power intake, which "normal speakers" don't have. I don't think the signal out from the laptop (or any computer, FTM) is strong enough to give something good out of external speakers.
So yes, an in between amplifier would have to be installed.
Though I'm not airwave-sensitive I try to limit my use of UV or IR waves at home, which is why I refise wi-fi, IR mouse and KB. I only allow for my cell-phone and the odd remote control. Don't even own a microwave oven, FTM.
Yeah, so BT is actually very low energy (immediate proximity is required), but I've managed to live without it so far.

I bought the these from Amazon for casual listening via my laptop whilst at work. No, they are not hi-fidelity, but for what they are they sound pretty decent, for the cost. I have them positioned about 18" away from my ears & they provide functionally acceptable, even maybe "punchy" bass that you don't normally get from "cheaper" speakers, & the "Tone" knob lets you adjust Treble & Bass to your listening environment. They also play pretty loud, if that's what you're looking for.
I wouldn't use them as my "main" speakers, but for casual listening they Rock pretty well. They do require a connection via power supply.
Plus, via Amazon, you can always return them if they are not what you are looking for. Check 'em out!

Absolutely, a,nd that's why I enjoy the ones I currently have: you can hear the bass loud and clear, which makes a world of differences with my previous home set (produced and sensitive to a bunch of interferences too) and the one we have at work - which I disabled in favour of a decent Sennheizer earbud, though the cord is a little to short for real comfort
Can't remember what I paid, but it's sure an ace deal
