Almost new Jellyfish- The Lickerish Quartet

Let me know what you think of this new tune!

This is 3/4ths of the Split Milk lineup doing brand new tunes. No Andy, but the other three are great writers as well.

Here's a new interview with Roger Manning Jr too-

Yowsa, I forgot how talented these guys really are at songwriting (and performing) lets hope they can hold it together. Not much money in digital music these days... I was hoping RJMJr was going to do something again, but is is beyond my wildest imagination. EP's - briliiant! I was talking to a Prog- metal drummer last night at Guitar center, and his label is telling them the same thing... Why put out one album a year when you can release 2 or 3 smaller projects in a year? Keeps the momentary jump in sales you get with a new release "jumping".

I don't know how I missed Jellyfish. They are an amazing band: chops, songwriting, and voices to die for. The production is top notch, too. I hear Beatles, Cheap Trick, XTC, Utopia, and Queen in their music, but it's truly their own thing. I can see why these guys never achieved liftoff in the 90's. They were just too damn good for the average grunge fan to appreciate. Their music requires the listener to be pretty attentive to capture all the nuance going down.

Looking forward to hearing the rest of the LQ record over the next several months as they dribble the 12 tracks out via EP's.

I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.

Very nice! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I was lucky enough to see Jellyfish open for Tears for Fears. These guys seem like a worthy successor.

    True dat

    jeez really?

They had some success with Spilt Milk. The song Too Much, Too Little, Too Late was all over the radio up here in grunge country. Join A Fan Club and New Mistake to a lesser extent but the band was getting on the radar. But they were no more deserving than other alt-rock bands that only garnered a few hits back then, bands like Presidents of The United States, The Posies, Tragically Hip, Gin Blossoms or Teenage Fanclub among others. Grunge was such a blip on the radar compared to all of the alt-pop and alt-rock competing for airplay back in the '90s.

And I do like this, but then again i liked Jellyfish back when. This tune has a slight Klaatu vibe to me ala Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft. That's where it took me when I first listened to it.

    How's Fadoodle treating you all?

Here's a commercial (all 70s style) where you can hear a bit of EPs other two tunes. Bluebird's Blues and There's A Magic Number-
