I had my pre-surgery COVID test today. I think they tickled my brain on this one.

How frightening is this?
Yup! So frozen up here, that I only just closed my swimming pool a few days ago!
It's funny, I used to contemplate a move to yankee-ville, as my girlfriend is from Seattle and has family there, but not so much now-a-days. Things seem just way too unstable down there right now.

Have any PE members gotten Covid? I hope not! It's been awhile since I read this thread.
Haven't heard from Geezer in quite a while either. Hopefully he's still in quarantine and the kids are keeping him safe and stoned.

I'll repeat what I wrote earlier in the thread. I likely had it in late February, before anyone knew it was endemic. A client at work was homeless and attended the program, just to have someplace to be, and something to do. He had a terrible cough. I developed mild flu like symptoms, probably from him. A couple of months ago, my dad took a Covid test as a prerequisite for an outpatient CT Scan. He tested negative for the virus, but positive for antibodies. It was a total surprise since he was completely asymptomatic. Since he rarely leaves the house after retiring, he most likely caught it from me. I did delay our regular bi-weekly dinner another week when I had mild symptoms, but as it turns out, that wasn't long enough to avoid spreading Covid.

Has antibody testing gotten better since the beginning of this thing? IIRC, those tests had about a 50% accuracy back in april, which is basically as effective as someone just looking at you and saying yes or no.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

I'm only here to reglaze my bathtub.
We just went to our small town senior center to get our flu shots. We wore masks. I knew there would be a problem because the center was going to have its weekly lunch soon and there would be locals there. Sure enough a dozen folks in there already and ONE was wearing a mask. Oh, and the two nurses on the other side of the hall giving shots. This town is fucking overflowing with COVID and this is the population that is at the biggest risk. What.In.The.Fuck.

Some people won't get it til they get it if you get my drift.
Wow, that's just insane.
I work in a building which, if everyone were here, would have about 15 people in it. Lately at most we have maybe 6 and usually it's only 3 or 4. We have signs on the doors stating masks are required (though we usually don't wear them if we're at our desks - we're pretty well distanced). Still, we have electricians and facilities people coming in who just don't seem to get it. And we're starting to see some small outbreaks in the area. People have gotten complacent this summer because our COVID numbers have been so low here in Vermont and New Hampshire. I was just informed that Vermont (where I live) has restricted travel to Grafton County, New Hampshire (where I work). I'm still trying to find out what that means. Probably nothing for me since we've been deemed "essential".
<sig out of order>
There are currently no US states with shrinking case numbers. Dozens are seeing an increase in cases. Hospitals are running out of ICU beds again.
Europe is entering a new shut-down.
Welcome to the second wave. Second verse, worse than the first.
Good luck to all. I don't pray. But if I did, I would pray for the end of this mass suicide by non-believers and lemming fools.

The bassist in our band works at a power plant. He emailed us about a week and a half ago, to let us know that he wouldn't make it to practice that day -- his boss (age 50) started feeling funny at work that day around lunch, so he went to get tested on-site. Came back positive for COVID-19, and said that by 5:30 that evening he was so sick he could barely walk to his car. Went to the ER and had a fever of 103. My friend was concerned, because while usually not being in direct contact with his boss they still share a floor and some common areas (break rooms, restrooms, etc.). But their workplace has had a mask requirement since March, so everyone there has been wearing them for over six months.
Next day, his boss' fever was down to around 101. The day after that, his fever was gone. He's fine now -- though he can't come back to work until next Tuesday, when he's been symptom-free for two weeks.
The guys who worked in close proximity to him have all tested negative for the coronavirus. A good reminder that masks do work (though I'm preaching to the choir here, probably ).
^^ WHEW!

This just in: Russia has approved a second vaccine, because the first one they rushed to market apparently wasn't effective enough.
