I suppose you're correct. But there were certainly some genuinely scary movies made back then. I can't imagine this was truly considered in the same league.

Actually, "modern" plastic surgery has been around for about 200 years. I use the term "modern," because the history of it goes back much, much further.

I've watched many movies over the years that had nobody I had heard of in them. ANd I've liked a lot of them too.

The original Frankenstein and Dracula movies scared the fecal matter out of people, when they were first released.

They definitly had their moments. As a kid , when I realised Dracula was walking through cobwebs without breaking them , that scared me.
For me Isle Of Lost Souls was the best scare. When they are skinning someone alive in The house Of Pain , off camara , the screaming got me. The whole film is wonderfully atmospheric. As were all they best of the early Universals.

Not that vintage but a show I'm watching for the first time...Buffy The Vampire Slayer is being shown in full on a channel here in the UK and I absolutely love it. One of the best shows I've ever watched. I'm about a third of the way into Series 6 now.

Also not a vintage show , but...
Started watching 30 Rock on Peacock streaming service. Into season 2 now. Its funny and well written. I never even saw 1 episode till now. Im hoping the quality holds up in later seasons.

The Blob played off the 'misunderstood teenagers versus the world' motif established in Rebel Without A Cause which was a first for a horror movie. The special effects were affective. The Blob itself was an innovative monster which spared us the 'dude in a suit' syndrome. I will say that the stilted acting doesn't help suspend disbelief and in places sticks out like sore thumb.

You can just picture McQueen following the director during the shoot, saying, "What's my motivation in this scene?".

    You're not watching the Canes?

I'm listening to baseball with I Dream of Jeannie in the background with the sound muted. Man, I can look at her all day long.

not a particularly well written script or great acting either; the characters are cliche (even by 1940) and the plot is as thin as a porno. However, they must have blown way past the prop budget. All things considered, an admirable job with the level of detail; many of the scale scenes are very effective (if not impressive) in representing the disparity in size, not just the great props and sets, but with the cinematography as well. This film never moves past the novelty of its premise, but it's still a fun movie to see every now and then. I'd think a child might find this movie a real hoot if not for 3 rather disturbing murder scenes.

The games aren't on free TV. I can't even see the NBA games.

Yes. It's supposed to be corny, campy, etc. That's the whole point.

Dr. Cyclops was fun. It's from 1940. Campy and cornball. I enjoyed it.

Campy is fun. Svengooli isn't either. It's more annoying than anything. And the interruptions to the movies are unforgivable. But, it is what it is.

Watchign a Roseanne episode today with Shelly Winters guesting as Rosie's grandmother. She's in a handful of episodes, as I recall, typically the Thanksgiving ones. There's one where she's feigning dementia, to mess with Beverly's head (Bev is her daughter, Rosie's mother, played by Estelle Parsons). At the end of the episode where she's talking, and I think it's Dan who says "But that happened three Thanksgiving's ago", like they were trying to mess with her head.

I felt the same way about the interruptions in MST3K.

Not the commentary during the movie; I'm talking about the stupid skits that they do.
