The narrator is none other than Jean Shepherd, who wrote In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash, the collection of short stories which was the inspiration for A Christmas Story. He used to do radio back in the day, too, where he would tell stories.
I think that movie's great.
And, I agree with Ron: the best thing Darren McGavin did was the father in that movie.

I was watching Happy Days a few weeks ago. The first couple of seasons were actually a nice time capsule for that period, but then it became The Fonzie Show and then they ditched Chuck and then they changed format from filmed to taped in front of a live audience... I stopped liking the show long before Fonzie jumped the shark.
I know it's stupid, but I enjoy watching old episodes of the game show Supermarket Sweep. I feel foolish routing for people who were on the show 25 years ago and may not even be with us anymore. I'm amazed at what the contestants grab. Many don't even touch the bonus items in the aisles that could increase their score. And only a few feet from the starting point is a gardening shelf with large bags of expensive grass seed and no one goes to get them. I get a kick out of how happy the show is. The host giggles an inane one-liner and the audience claps hysterically. The team that comes in last claps and cheers like they've won a fortune, when you know all they'll get is a Salad Shooter. I suppose game show producers want their contestants to be perky and upbeat.

Looking forward to my day in court.
"The White Zone is for loading and unloading only. If you got to load or unload go to the White Zone!"
I got my TV schedule for tomorrow. A two hour block of Stooges shorts, then the feature film on Svengoolie..." Village of The Damned."
I’m almost convinced it’s some kind of urban legend à la Candle Cove. I legitimately never even heard of it until about five years ago, but I’m informed it’s some kind of crazy cult favorite. Then again, my beloved (s)mother was careful to shield me from anything she thought I might find too scary. In case you were wondering why I’m so messed up.
Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883...
Big "Night Stalker" fan here. Loved both of the movies. As others mention the show was hit and miss. It could have been better, but i still remember being bummed when it got cancelled.
Most of the shorts they're showing are all Shemp and Curly.
My favorite Three Stooges short is still Malice In The Palace, where Moe, Larry and Shemp are restaurateurs in the Middle East who are forced by Hassan Ben Sober to retrieve the Rootintootin Diamond, which has been stolen by The Emir Of Shmow. Great, great, classic piece!
I just saw an episode where the Stooges are in outer space......Truth.....
Watching Village of the Damned. Love those British accents.
MeTV is showing 2 hour blocks of today of....
The Flintstones
The Brady Bunch
Gilligan's Island
Twilight Zone marathon all day on SciFi today.
