    Recent bowl

I found a piece of maple up the street left by a utility crew.
It was a crotch and I thought that I could get some of the feather pattern in a bowl.
So after a couple of hours work I came up with this natural edge bowl.
I almost got the crotch feather across the bottom, not quite. And I knocked off a piece of bark.
It's about 10" across and about 6" tall.
It was green ( wet ) wood so it is sitting in a paper bag in the garage slowly drying ( to prevent cracking ).
There are lots of tool marks because I didn't want to sand it while wet.
When I figure it is dry I will sand and finish it.

    Wow! Beautiful!
I wish I had a full sized lathe. I’m so limited with a midi lathe.

I did borrow a photo box to improve my pictures.

I made it on a kind of unusual midi lathe. It's a Stubby S500, not very many of them have made it to the US.
It has an 11" swing over the bed, but the bed can be moved to give it a 23" swing. And it has a 1.75 hp motor.

My other lathe is an older version of the Jet 1015VS. Turning a piece like that would be a challenge on that lathe.

    Woodworking

I began working on this walnut shelf. I’m going to pour some epoxy resin into in shelf mold. I’m thinking “ocean blue.”

I put a nice Sapele frame on my wife’s stained glass butterfly. It came out nice!

Boceephus, it looks awesome! I wish to have router table which can help with this kind of wood working. I've recently found this resource ( here: https://www.woodroutersreviews.com/best-router-table/ ), and now I'm thinking to purchase model Kreg PRS1045 Precision Router Table System. It's heavy-duty steel frame makes the table very stable during use, and looks pretty reliable wood working tool.

Is that actually a hole in the table? Or filled epoxy? Pretty cool. I wonder if an LED could be inset in the epoxy with a battery holder underneath....or an embedded solar panel in the surface? A lit Blue Pool in the table.....

Yes, it is filled with clear epoxy the light would have been a cool idea.
I’m planning a few lamp builds using leds @ epoxy.

That Alembic is beautiful. I’ve seen a lot of custom builds using epoxy. Cool stuff!

Any woodworkers have something new to post? I kind of miss not seeing that beautiful wood.

I’m mainly working on refinishing a beautiful Walnut table top. Unfortunately, the original woodworker screwed up on this piece so badly. There’s a lot os punky wood he didn’t stabilize, so I’m correcting that. The owner wants some inlay work too! I think it’s gonna be beau when I’m done.

    Here’s a pre-sanded photo.

This is a little maple burl wine bottle stopper I turned. I sent it to Chris Buzby from echolyn. He’s such a great positive dude that I wanted to give him something to show my appreciation.

As a way to use cut-offs from other projects, I started making stands for cell phones & tablets. I hate to waste anything.

This is a table I’m finishing. This is the first coat of epoxy resin over a black walnut table top with copper inlay & just a touch of malachite patina.
