Interestingly enough, the song "Houses of the Holy" by Led Zeppelin didn't end up on the album of the same name. The band decided the sound and delivery didn't fit. So it ended up on Physical Graffiti, one release later.

Likewise, the Queen song Sheer Heart Attack doesn't appear on the Sheer Heart Attack album, but on News Of The World, which was three albums later. Also, the Def Leppard song On Through The Night wasn't on their first album, On Through The Night, but rather, their second album, High 'n' Dry. There's also the ELP song Brain Salad Surgery, which doesn't appear on the album of that same name, but rather on Works Vol. 2.

Pink Floyd "High Hopes" has "the division bell"

David Gilmour said he was considering several titles for that album, and as the impending deadline loomed close, he still hadn't made a decision. It was Douglas Adams who suggested that he could offer his opinion on the matter if Gilmour would donate money to a charity that Adams was running. So Gilmour agreed, and DNA said "You should call it The Division Bell".

Also, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason is a line in the song One Slip. Apparently, for that album, Gilmour also considered Of Promises Broken (a line from Sorrow) and Signs Of Life as the album title.

Another one that comes to mind is Knee Deep In The Hoopla by Starship, which of course comes from that awful song, I think you know the one I mean.

The phrase "peace of mind" occurs in the Iron Maiden song Still Birth, I believe.

Blue Oyster Cult's Agents Of Fortune takes it's name from a line in the song E.T.I (Extra Terrestial Intelligence).

Marillion's Clutching At Straw is named for the repeated line in the coda of The Last Straw.

Now here's a weird one: The Who of course had an album called Face Dances. Then on Pete Townshend's next solo albums, All The Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes, there's a song called Face Dances Part 2. There is no Face Dances Part One (or if there is, Pete's never released it). According to Wikipedia, two different sources give differing versions of which came first, the album title or the song.
