Well that’s a broad generalization and not at all true. I don’t ever buy vinyl with the intention to sell it for profit later, and I like collecting colored editions when possible. I’ve never noticed a degradation in audio quality, but maybe I have tin ears.

Then why do you like collecting colored vinyl?

Because it’s pretty, and looks cool on my turntable.

For me it's a little of both, I like how the colored vinyl looks, as well as the exclusivity, even though I rarely sell anything (so far). I buy records to play them. But if the colored vinyl is significantly more expensive I'll buy black, knowing it will/should also sound better.

Mark, if a mastering engineer asks for more than $1500 to remaster this, go elsewhere

OT, but maybe of interest to Discipline fans... I haven't seen any announcement on the Main Board that Discipline is playing tomorrow (9/19) at 8pm ET as part of the ProgStock Vitual Series (https://www.progstock.com/2020/).

I don't get to pick that Robert. That is their domain. Also I will get the best guy we can because we are not going to cut any corner on this.

It's exciting to see that the Kickstarter is likely to reach its baseline goal sometime today, just a day after its start. It's great to see strong interest in this remix.

Slightly OT, but Discipline were impressive in yesterday's virtual concert. I also enjoyed Matthew's solo set, which included several unreleased tracks. The Kate Hinote trio (which includes Matthew) was also fun to watch.

Yes they were great. Decided to start the kickstarter in conjunction with that show.

We hit our first stretch goal. I just contacted the original artist and green lit additional artwork for this remaster now too.

Second stretch goal is about to be hit. Which is a free copy of an upcoming private concert at Monforti Manor.

If you would like to hear what these recording sound like. Go to progrock.com and Search for Phideaux or Steve Unruh. Pick something from Live at monforti manor.

The quality of the live recording is outstanding if I do say so myself.

    It's official now.

Progrock.com’s Essentials and Discipline are excited to announce we have commissioned Terry Brown to mix and master the 2020 edition of Unfolded Like Staircase. Terry is best known for producing 9 Rush albums. He has also produced albums for other progressive rock bands such as Fates Warning, IQ, Tiles and Klaatu.

I am listening to first pass at cd and vinyl mix now. Not only is it sounding awesome but I have also garnered some appreciation for the original mix. Thanks to listening to it for the first time on my Martin Logan speakers.

There is no doubt this is a special album and what ever the final mix ends up being I think we'll probably have 97% of people agreeing that this was worth the time and money to do. One thing is for sure the band is pretty excited.

    Isn't that somewhat paradoxical?

Well, not necessarily. The new mix could still be a significant improvement.
