    Hoven Droven

Anybody know the current status of Hoven Droven?

They seem to have gone kinda quiet since their 2017 EP:

Their website hasn't been updated since October 2019:

Last thing I've heard from them was their More Happy Moments album. But it was 1999. Seems they have sunk in the sands of time...

They've kind of slowed down recording any new music - either too many side projects, lack of revenue from sales, or maybe Kjell's muse has run dry. My brother and I used to attend their somewhat annual appearances in Minnesota, especially at the now defunct Nordic music festival (the rule at the festival was always closed with Hoven Droven because no one wanted to play after they destroyed the place). I was lucky to see some truly insane shows.

Their first album Lugumleik is stellar (and IMO better than Hoven Droven), but after this great album it gets less interesting.

I like bands that have a "manageable" catalog...

I'm Danish - but many words are close

Den Fule = The ugly (one) or the evil (man) = Satan
Lugumleik = not sure what Lugum is, maybe a site, leik is dialect of play, as in the children is playing. Løgum is a small town in Denmark, spelled Lugum in nothern Germany.
Skalv = Quake (as in eartquake)
Halling i Köket = a specifik dance called Halling, in the kitchen, Halling is a valley in Norway, and a small town in Denmark.

Saw them with Fläskkvartetten 25+ years ago, with the latter's Freddie Wadling at his absolute top game and hard to beat - yet Den Fule were excellent as well. IIRC, Sebastian Öberg was still with The Flesh Quartet and sat in with Den Fule at some point, prompting a bit of historical magic as a very young Öberg was once a member of the legendary Älgarnas Trädgård and is apparently also related to Mats Öberg of Mats/Morgan ultra-fame.

I believe I'm talking about Den Fule here… Or Garmarna? Or Hoven Droven? Wait… at least I know for a fact that it wasn't anything with Roine Stolt or Neal Morse in it.
