Best 3 album stretch?

The Gospel According to Spinal Tap/Shark Sandwich/Smell the Glove

That's the classic run, but I so hate to leave out Intravenus de Milo!

For Queen, I'd say Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, and Night at the Opera.

Some I considered, but struggled with:

Banco: To me, their three truly great albums are Darwin, Io Sono Nato Libero, and Di Terra. Not a three album run. I like the debut, but I wouldn't personally put it quite up there in a "best three album stretch."

PFM: My problem is L'isola di Niente, which I feel is a little weak compared to the first two, and to Chocolate Kings. So again, no perfect three album stretch for me.

Kansas: Masque is the holdout for me. It's good, but not really a classic like Song for America. So that sort of subverts the run of the first three, and the run that would include Leftoverture and PoKR.

Zeppelin: I love Zeppelin III, but to me it doesn't belong in a run with II and IV. IV and Houses are great, but Physical Graffiti is a stumbling block for me with some great stuff, and a lot of so-so stuff. So no three album run for Zep in my book.

Spinal Tap does have three albums, so it could be Soundtrack/Break Like the Wind/ Back From the Dead. Kinda ruins the fun though.

Larks-Starless-Red were in the OP, and I had said earlier that I found no argument with any of those. I added Thrak/TCoL/TPtB as a second three album run for KC, much as I did for Gentle Giant, not as a replacement for the Wetton albums, which are stone cold classics to me. I just didn't feel they needed to be repeated.

I'd go Moonsongs, In this Life, In Extremis, though I confess to being a bit on the fence on Moonsongs. But In This Life is my favorite of theirs, followed by In Extremis. Never been a big fan of History of Madness.

Poseidon is the weak link there for me.

TCoL has always been one of their weakest albums for me though I like Thrak & TPtB a lot.

Yeah, I know that album has its detractors. Oddly, it's my favorite of those three, and I've always felt it was terribly underrated. But that will definitely be the killer album for those who disagree with that three-album run.

Moonsongs is actually really good. It's not as good as In this Life or In Extremis, but it's one I spin a lot. I have it on a 2/1 with their debut, which is also not bad, though a little unpolished.
