    Kansas Rich Williams' eye patch

    And a Monday it is...

I was just over at Facebook, and viewed two videos of Kansas posted by one of my connections. The first, a mid-seventies performance with Rich Williams NOT wearing an eye patch, and the second video, filmed some years later, WITH him wearing the patch.... sans bib overalls!

For the Kansas appreciators here.... please relay the story behind the patch.

    Carry On

He wanted to make his own fireworks and collected gun powder in a glass.

So screwing the lid on the glass while there was still remainder of the gun powder
on the edge of the glass wasn't the best idea.

He was a child back than, he wore a prosthetic eye for many years but prefered the patch later.

He had a glass eye in the 70s and just got tired of wearing it.

He joked that under the patch is where he kept the "bean dip". How about that for a visual?

I'm pretty sure he's the only person I've ever seen wear an eye patch AND glasses at the same time. I guess an eye patch and a monocle might be a little obnoxious?

i remember him in an interview years ago talking about this...
after years of wearing the eye patch, he was giving a glass eye, but he didn't like it.
it looked weird, so he went back to wearing the eye patch.

It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

my uncle has had an glass eye for all his life (he was born with the problem), and it never seemed to be a problem with him. I've no idea whether there is any kind of maintenance (is it still the same?) or hygiene problems, as he never spoke about. You would detect his glass eye unless you knew about it.

I should ask him about it next time I see him.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

As long as he doesn't start sporting a parrot on his shoulder, I'm OK with it.

Of all the jokes I’ve heard, these are two of the cornea.
