How sad to lose a Rutle, a Bonzo dog, and the man affectionately called 'the seventh Python'. Eric Idle must be devastated. R.I.P. to this very funny and talented man.

GOOD LORD what an awful Link! I couldn't read it in time before the pop-ups buried it. The latest issue of Prog had a bit about him.

A great and very unique talent.
That Ruttles album, apparently made in a couple of weeks, is one of the most brilliant parodies ever recorded, imo.

I made a compilation of Neil's work for myself a few years ago, and the range of his writing goes way beyond The Rutles, way beyond Grimms, way beyond Bonzo Dog, way beyond The World, way beyond Rutland Weekend, way beyond Monty Python. He was a musical genius of the highest order.

Loved the Ruttles and Bonzos, he was indeed a great talent and a wonderful human from all reports. A sad day indeed in Pythonland and in general. Gloomy news on a gloomy Monday morning.
His Innes Book of records was one of the best music shows ever on TV. As well as early vids of his own songs, he would regularly have guests drawn from Britain's odd-balls like Ivor Cutler, Jake Thackray, Percy Edwards, Ralph Steadman, Fritz Spiegl, John Betjeman, Professor Stanley Unwin and his friend Viv Stanshall. Also unique contributions from Michael Palin and John Cooper Clarke. A wonderful celebration of British eccentricity.
RIP Neil - truly one of a kind.
Sorry to hear this. Been a fan for a long time. Rest in peace, Neil.

Very sad. I was literally thinking of this song just yesterday, and I received this news today. Uncanny:
Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883...
Sad news.
RIP
Please don't ask questions, just use google.
Never let good music get in the way of making a profit.
I'm only here to reglaze my bathtub.
What sad news, he was a genius and very funny.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

I met him about ten years ago, during a solo tour. Quite a pleasant fellow, and writer of many excellent songs. I was a big Bonzos nut back in high school, and loved his contributions.
And here's my favorite track by them, a collaboration between Neil (composition) and Viv Stanshall (words and recitation)
Who was the other Bonzo who died a few years back?

... Looked it up. Vivian Stanshall was who I was thinking of. Wow that was 1995... Long time ago, it just seems like a few years ago to me.

Very, very talented. Sad news to end the year...
Neil hath made a passing bold minstrel of significant lyrical prowess...

Like Ollie Halsall, with whom he was sometimes associated, Innes made a career out of making other musicians look great. When you dig into what they actually did, they were amazingly talented & accomplished.
Heartbreaking news. I adored this man.
A Comfort Zone is not a Life Sentence
I thought of this immidiately when I heard the sad news...
If anyone here has not seen The Rutles mockumentary All You Need Is Cash, they should do so now. Its the next best music parody to Spinal Tap.

I only clicked on it because I thought it was going to be something more interesting...
