I'm also really eager (overeager maybe?) to get it out for you folks. I certainly hope the final product is enjoyable for you peeps

And at the risk of being a bit of a broken record: thanks so much for listening and the feedback. It's so awesome and I'm just super grateful.
Reading the responses in this thread and reaction to the first two songs, I don't think you have anything to worry about John.
This is quality, passionate from the heart music, written, performed and recorded with a healthy portion of your talent and love of music.

I just added a fan account to my artist account and am looking forward to add your new album to my fan account.

Is the track after Gliding Leviathans Overhead called Burning Leviathans Underfoot?

Excellent music, as usual, John, I'm looking forward to hearing the entire album.

Dig 'em. They made me stop and not do anything but take them in. A little brooding, a lot atmospheric.

Spent the last year putting together a new album of my own. It's about 74 minutes long and is called "Between the Axiom and the Sigh." It was going to be called "Sad Widdly Cape Gnomes Eat Hot Death" but that was apparently already used (who knew).

I don't really know if it's "prog" or anything, much less "good" or anything. But, it's me doing what I do and at the risk of losing my official Snark membership card...I'm actually really super happy with how it's come together and am pretty excited to share it with anyone who might enjoy it.

I'm still working with James Plotkin to finish the mastering process, but once it's done it'll be on Bandcamp. It'll be on CD too (I don't know why some of you want to get physical with me, but I do not judge). Sorry, no vinyl, cassette, VHS or punch cards this time.

Anyhoo...here are some tracks. Thanks for reading and listening, sorry for the spam

    Count me in, John!
And yes, physicality is my thing so please do shout when I may purchase a CD.

I very much enjoyed the early chance to listen to "The Intrepid" the other day. I really like the way it starts, moves, and develops.

I liked "...Leviathans..." even more. My goodness what a special track! It is superb. As well as being pure pleasure to listen to, it also motivates me to elevate my game. This synth player understands just how creative you are and how hard you have worked.

Is the 'Deckard's Dream' synth on either track? I would guess it is on "...Leviathans..." (I know it can do many different sounds besides the classic Blade Runner-like stuff).

Oh yeah, the DDRM in on both in various little places. Actually, the heavy background "guitar" on Intrepid is the Deckard's Dream pushed through a variety of destructive devices (Pro Co Rat, Jekyll + Hyde, Meris Ottobit). Oh, at the end of Intrepid there's a cool sorta ringmod-sweep thing! That's all the DDRM with the ring mod expander.

Yay again for all the kind words Thank you!!

Ah, very cool! Thanks for the info! That talent you have for running synths through cool devices is one of your strengths.

Despite having some cool effects at home, I often forget to wrestle them away from the guitar/bass area of my home and plug them into my stack of techno-rubble (Synths).
    I need to do that!

Oh man, pedals can be SO much fun with keyboards

Aside from the Meris pedal trio that is all over the album, the Hologram Infinite Jets was used with the Deckard's Dream and the Polivoks in different places to create some excellent random glitchy pad FX in the background.

Actually, just for fun (and since I'm keeping you super patient folks waiting while *I* wait for the final album to be ready for online)...one of the weirder/cooler gadgets that is on the album is a Tocante Karper from Ciat-Lonbarde: https://www.ctrl-mod.com/products/tocante-karper

It's kind of difficult to explain what it does, what it can do...it is solar powered, your hands kind of close the circuit to make sound, and if you practice a bit with the different sensors and spots, you can actually create something that sounds kinda/sorta like a deep guitar drone ala SUNN O))) but also has a characteristic all it's own. And when pushed through the Jekyll + Hyde...oh my goodness, what lovely dark textures.

Oh! And speaking of the Jekyll + Hyde...it's basically a dual filter distortion box which can really do amazing things to all sorts of sounds. But to be honest, it's also seriously awesome gear p0rn

When I showed mine to the gents in the band, Brian turned Kermit-levels of green with envy and even considered reaching out to Retro Mechanical to see if they'd make him a box that just had the VU meters in it

Oh, as for the music...still waiting to hear back from the mastering engineer so I'm as eager as you folks are to get the final sequenced album Hang tight, hopefully it won't be much longer!

Interesting trinkets indeed, especially, for me, that "Karper" thingy. After many years I'm once again starting to go down the wormhole having recently bought a whammy pitch and echoplex pedals. From what I've briefly seen the Karper is set up based on non-standard intervals akin to gamelan scales which are also non-standard tuning, but the intervals are what are more interesting. That would make it a challenge (or interesting!) to blend with standard western instrumentation I would think.

Anyway rather than nerd out and get over my head and under water I'll just say that I look forward to your album with great interest and enjoyed the previews. "Gliding Leviathans Overhead" great title! That alone makes it prog. ;-)

Thanks!! I still have a smidge of prog credibility after all

The Karper is bonkers...it isn't really set to any scale per se; each "key" also has touchplates that will change the note as well as the octave. So it can generate some weird plucking type sounds, but also deeper drones. It doesn't care about tuning or anything. In that regard it reminds me of the Soma Lyra (another awesome device but not something one uses when one wants to have conventional scales/tones).

A very idiosyncratic bit of music hardware.
