Saw Steve Hillage and Gong last night

My first time seeing Gong or Steve Hillage and I was not disappointed. Gong were mesmerising and Steve Hillage was on fire! Great set lists by both bands and I got to hear the The Glorious Om Riff live at last. Any body else seen them on this tour? What did you think?

I saw them at Southampton and I agree, Hillage is on top form. Kavus warned us that we weren't going to hear much 'old stuff' from Gong and so it proved but for those of us who like to hear the old stuff the balance was redressed during the second set when we were treated to most of the Fish Rising and L albums (and even a bit of classic era Gong), all played to the highest standard. A great evening.

I missed this jaunt as I was out of the country, but I saw Steve Hillage a few months back and it was fantastic, the equal of those gigs I saw in the late 70’s. This new Gong incarnation with Kavus leading is every bit the real deal, carrying the flame into a new era.

I made the big effort to see Gong this year at HRH Prog and it was ... stunning. The band completely channels the spirit of the original group, and then some. They'll be on the Cruise next spring and a couple of dates in Brazil/South America thereafter?, but Fabio told me that there's no stopping them... plans are afoot.

Hopefully Leo can make a North America tour happen!

Who played first, Hillage or Gong ? An did Steve also played in the Gong set ? They'll play in Belgium next week and maybe I shouldn't miss them... last time I've seen the S.H.B in concert was in april 1979, seems a veeeeery long time ago. (actually it is: 40 years !)

    Hi.
Gong play for an hour, usually at 7:30.
The Steve Hillage Band usually plays for 2 hours about 9pm.
Steve does not play in the Gong set on this tour, although will be for the South America and Japanese dates next year.
(Which is Gong featuring Steve Hillage)

Of course, you wonít get an objective opinion from me, but I would highly recommend you do come to the Belgium show.
Itís a pretty immersive, transformative three hours with a really full on light show too.
