Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts (Parts V & VI) - Released yesterday as free downloads

Nine Inch Nails unexpectedly released the next two instalments of their ambient Ghosts music yesterday, for free.

You can download the two albums from their website at no cost, and the results are well worth the effort. Particularly if you’re into the likes of Steven Wilson’s Bass Communion project or the work of Max Richter.

I’ve put together a review of the music and how to access it. Hope you find it helpful.

The link in your review to the band's webstore doesn't work...it takes you to MAIL.
Also I have a Bandcamp account and tried everything in the search engine at Bandcamp to find this music and it's not there.
I even searched Trent Reznor&Atticus Ross, but all I get is John Carpenter's Halloween.

Do you have a proper link that works? much appreciated, thank you.

    Here you go:

Note...looks like they are getting hit heavily so while I "purchased" it successfully this morning, I've yet to successfully download the files. I figure it'll come through later today or tonight.

I think it's also up on Spotify (boo) and YouTube (https://youtu.be/dp58R7BEhrw).

    Hope this helps!

    Here's a link to the UK site: - https://store-uk.nin.com/products/ghosts-v-together-and-ghosts-vi-locusts

Sorry for the wrong link earlier - our work servers are under strain and laptop sluggish.

Thanks for pointing out the wrong link - I've added in the new link to my review.

Good luck, and perhaps let everyone know how you get on?

Apparently they did get many requests. My "purchase" is confirmed...but no download yet. I'm sure it will come later today <fingers crossed>

    Thanks for the heads up.
I'm a longtime NIN fan and always found some kind of prog spirit to their music.
I didn't like their latest series of EPs too much but this sequel of Ghosts is definitely something I'll be checking out.

Thanks for the correction. Part my fault, for some reason I assumed it was on Bandcamp, so looked there.
    Thanks again.

UPDATE: I just spoke to a friend on the East coast (USA) who ordered the downloads on Wednesday. He said it took almost 3 days for the tracks to become available...he got them today. So...patience is a virtue here...LOL.

This album has the same atmosphere of what we're living right now which is the silence of a ghost city

So it actually took a week before I could download.
It turns out both albums are ambiant music: not my thing, I find this kind of stuff incredibly boring. I don't see myself returning to this anytime soon.
It's still a nice gesture that he put them out for free.

His previous "Ghosts" project was the same style. Had you not heard it?

Finally got the email with my download link on Saturday...took a week but I'm pretty sure they got totally blitzed on this one.

I've not listened through both of them yet but so far, I'm liking them plenty. Big fan of Reznor & Ross's soundtrack work as well as the NIN stuff so these are welcome additions. My only complaint, and it's a very minor one, but as with Ghosts I-IV I'd rather like a CD copy of the albums as well. But I get that it probably isn't worth it for them; if anything they'd probably do better with a limited vinyl run.

I also hadn't noticed that big honking mega box set for Bird Box before...especially seeing as they did us a solid with two free albums, thinking I might have to spring for that gorgeous beauty...

I have and like it a lot.
This is vastly different. The previous Ghosts had beats and melody lines. These are drones that stretch over minutes and minutes with hardly anything like beats and melodies. I know some people will enjoy it but I find this kind of stuff boring and not what I came to like about NIN. This hardly compares to the previous Ghosts apart from the fact that it's all instrumental.

Edit: OK, after listening again, maybe saying it was all drones was an overstatement on my part. There are tracks that are very similar to the calmer moments of Ghosts I-IV, especially on Locusts. But this is all too sedate for me, and there are still quite a few very long droning tracks which are quite unlike anything off the first installment of Ghosts.

    Thanks for the heads up.

Not something I'd turn to often - but has its place. I enjoyed the first one more than the second.

I'm starting to realize I should shift my expectations with these albums. I usually listen to music in a rather "involved" way, on headphones, doing nothing else. Those albums don't keep my attention in this way, whereas Ghosts I-IV did, hence my previous comments.
However, as background music, Ghosts V & VI turn out to be quite pleasant.
