I hope he doesn’t have to contend with this in his home state:
Polls are open and long lines have already formed in urban areas in Wisconsin as the state becomes the first in the nation to hold in-person primary voting during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

    Difficult transition for sure - - -

I'm assuming he has a laptop or something - which would be good for Zoom (cam.mic.speakers).

    Wishing him well.

I wouldn’t mess with Zoom, FaceTime is good enough. Zoom is questionable.

Oh, heck, I know I shouldn't... Why is Zoom questionable?

They all have some issues, frankly, speaking as one who works in that field. Zoom just has more visibility now and is getting the heat. It's still widely used in business, so... it is what it is.

But, it should be noted, they are trying to do the right thing and have made it available to folks for free. This is why its so visible now. That's excellent, as long as people are careful and aware that all of these programs do have privacy holes. Configure the thing, be smart about setting it all up and it should be fine.

Facetime is lovely and our tool of choice but only works on Apple iOS devices which not everyone has, of course. Skype is likewise free and convenient for folks but has its own set of issues. As i said before, they all do. Media systems programmers like myself have a nice list of things (as would hackers). They are, however, the tools we have and extremely helpful and convenient for folks.

All the best to Steve. I do hope he's doing well in isolation. We're all struggling with that, of course. And loss of income, loved ones, etc. As long as he's healthy and happy. He's clearly still got his sense of humour, god bless him

The problem is that people want Easy. Just click and join so I can see my friends/coworkers, etc.
Applications can be just too easy to turn off the 'hard stuff ( security, passwords )' to gain market share.
The dbags will jump in with both feet. Just for the Lulz, nothing personal.
Zoom can be very secure. But then it is not as Easy.

I use WhatsApp...I know it's owned by FB, but I don't care. I get to video call friends and family all over the world for FREE. In fact, I made contact with a friend in Australia, that I haven't seen since 1964, so..thanks goodness for WhatsApp.

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MONTHS MY PC IS UP & RUNNING!

I wish I had the time to respond individually to all my friends & well-wishers here, but insead let me give you all an update on where I am now.

I have moved to an assisted living facility close to my 2 oldest kids and once the Corona plague is done will begin my physical & occupational therapy to see if I can get the use of my legs back. I am presently confined to a wheelchair & a walker and also a plush recliner that we bought. I do not have enough leg strength to walk unassisted due to all the atrophy from months of inactivity. "Depressed I am" says Yodageezer.

I will try to post when something triggers my interest, but I did want to check in now that I have a working PC.

    Love to all,

    Steve

Great to hear from you Steve. A note of caution. Several nursing homes in MD have had infected but asymptomatic people enter those facilities and cause multiple problems for those most vulnerable. Keep an eye on the processes and the infection rates where you are. Take care!
