I'm working on a new piece. The piano backbone is finished and now I'm adding some synthesizers. The whole piece goes on for 13 minutes.

A little smooth jazz for you by David Benoit - or my version of it at least. The name translated to Sunshine Road, and we could all use a little sunshine in our day right now.

I'm not familiar with the original but this version was great. Really fluid and expressive piano playing, and I love how the acoustic duets with the piano on the chorus, where they're mostly together but each take occasional little flourishes and details. Some nice subtle bass work as well, and I love the descending pass part around 2:50ish.

Thanks for listening. If you like this song then pick up David Benoit album "American Landscape". It's good stuff.
One of the hallmarks of democracy is that ordinary people must occasionally step up and do heroic things to preserve their freedom and way of life. I was always moved when I saw an old, seemingly feeble man with his hand on a cross in a cemetery or tracing the outline of a name on a wall. He was the same guy I dismissed in line at the grocery store fumbling with his change or the septuagenarian slow to start at a red light. He was the guy who coached my baseball teams, the grocer, the plumber, the butcher or the cop. One of them was also my dad, a kind and gentle man who somehow found it within himself to leave his carefree youth behind and stand in line at a recruitment office in 1944. We live amongst heroes and owe them a debt that we frequently forget when caught up in the trivial drama of our daily lives. This song tells the story about the memories of war from one such man. God bless him and all who offered the ultimate sacrifice. We should be wary of the words of Plato and the evidence of the present day: “Only the dead have seen the end of war”.
I really love this song Joe, not only the message, but the music, lyrics, production is perfect. Love the Rush vibe(I've been rediscovering my love for Rush lately).
Your comments describing the song and all the heroes who stepped up to defeat the darkness is inspiring and touching.
My dad was in the Marines and went to Okinawa. As you say, God bless them all, those who sacrificed their lives, and those who are still with us.
I only wish one thing, our country would replace calling the day HAPPY Memorial Day...it's Memorial Day to remember those who sacrificed, there is nothing HAPPY about it.

^^ Thanks, Richard. Yes, Happy Memorial Day seems like an oxymoron.
Thank you, Renate! That's a great story about your grandfather. I can't imagine what it was like to live in those times. I hope we don't experience their like again. Alas, we may be done with war, but war isn't done with us.
Nice sentiment for this national holiday Joe and great guitar work as usual. We celebrate those who served in the wars, but they suffer so much more than we can imagine with PTSD and memories of atrocities we can't comprehend. Their struggle is every day, not just one day a year. I' live in a place with 3 naval stations and lots of vets. The locals - all the locals - give a 10% discount if you are a vet or first responder in just about any store or restaurant. It's certainly not like that in other parts of the country, but should be.

Good point, Bob. I'm always amazed that the Vets that have lived through some of the most harrowing experiences imaginable can live seemingly normal lives thereafter. For most, the experience of war never ends, yet they've got to rejoin society.

My latest composition is finished. Probably will be recording it tomorrow, so one of these days it will be on Soundcloud.
It's piano, (Arturia), double bass (Arturia Augmented STRINGS) and 2 MiniMoogs (Arturia) First time I changed the mixersettings in Cubase at some point. It was easy, because there was a long pianosolo, where I could change the volume of the synthesizers.
Hi guys. Poncing about with electronica instead of toiling at the lyrics I need to be concentrating on . it`s so much more fun.tee hee. This little disposable is called "Fissy Hit" and it`s on my SoundClick for now. I faked the "Lead geet" solo by putting Kitty the Soprano through " TubeBaby" VST and a bit delay. Mellotrons RedTron left Tapeotronic Right, Serum mid right Drums Reason.

Thanks for checking out our Springsteen song. Bruce and hot summer days just seem to go together.

Perhaps not the best time to publish a song named 'Dezember' (December), but I can't help it. I just wrote it and named it Dezember, because December 2002 my mother died and December 2020 my dad died, so an important month for me, like September for someone from Green Day (Wake me up when september ends).
I really like this one Clivey. Nice bouncey beat and melody, love the sax buried in reverb.
The synth bass really drives this one along...great work here! thanks for posting it.
Love the intro here, I'm hearing bits of Bach influence throughout the song. Wasn't sure when you went discordant, but then you bring it all together around 3:00...and then the last quarter it's all hands on deck that really challenged me, but I hung in there and understand what's going on(I think).
I love how you dedicated it in memory of the month your parents passed away. How cosmic is it they passed away the same month, 18 years apart, but with the same numbers 2002, 2020...wow!

My mom died on December 5 (she was born on October 12) and my dad died on December 23 (born October 28).
The Bach influence is probably often present in my music in what a former friend of mine (also a musician) called interlace.
Not sure I know what is going on in the part after the piano-solo.
Listening now on commute home. The build up is evoking a clockwork Orange kinda vibe though not at all of that Ilk. Back to listening now.
Actually listened 3 times it's a hypnotic piece that kinda asks the listener to give it another whirl . It's challenging for sure . I would probably not put it on if not in the mood to concentrate.
