Pretty funny, I have 3 finished songs I need to prepare for recording and have to record.
The last song I wrote is the first one, that is ready for recording, basicly because it is quite easy, just four parts and 2 instruments that are defenitly not velocity sensitive. Wrote it only using free software instruments: Ample Sound acoustic guitar Lite, Ample Sound bass Lite, and 2 instruments from K Brown, the TriloGee and Rolend SH-57.
Hope to record it tomorrow. Not exactly sure when it will be published.

I covered Vivre La Mort by Pollen for fun. What do you think?

I think that you have accurately covered this song with skill and to these tired ears done it justice. I will be listening out for more of your material and watching your journey.

    Thanks for sharing man

And my new song is on SoundCloud. Not sure it is prog. It is basicly in 4/4 and it is 8 minutes long.

Only used free soft-instruments for this.
The K-Brown Rolend SH-57, which should be a kind of emulation of a Roland SH-5, which was a kind of dream-synth for me.
The K-Brown TriloGee, which should be a kind of emulation of the Crumar Trilogy.
The Ample Sound Ample Guitar M II Lite
The Ample Sound Ample Bass P II Lite

I have to say I like the Ample Sound stuff. Alas the paid instruments are not really cheap.

First - thank you to all who gave our tune Silver Spoon a listen and for the feedback and kind words! We have a few more we need to finish up then we make a decision about taking this a little further or not... more to come soon.
Next - Czyszy - very nicely done!
And finally - Rarebird - very nice as usual. Nice textures and atmosphere. Kind of hypnotic if you listen with the lights off

This is a bit different for you, but I like it, especially the lead synth running through the song.
I think the Ample Sound stuff is really good, but I've had trouble trying to play the Guitar M II Lite.
    Thanks for posting the Dream.

Yes, the Ample Sound stuff is good, but the versions one can buy are pretty expensive. And I don't know if they really suit my needs.

Dream is in a way based on how I used to work when I was much younger. When I started making music I played with a schoolmate, who played harmonium, recorder and vocals (mainly harmonium), a friend of another schoolmate played acoustic guitar and I added my synthesizer-lines with my Roland System 100 model 101 synthesizer. Later I recorded improvisations on simple chords with an ensemble that combined a limited organ, stringensemble and brass, an electric piano and my synthesizer. No instruments were velocitysensitive. First I worked with sound on sound, later with a 4-track cassettedeck.
So I decided to limit myself to 4 instruments and no velocitysensitive keyboards. The synthsolo is a kind of composed improvisation, if that makes sense.

The next piece, which I wrote before Dream will be much more complicated. I have 19 tracks, with 2 pianos, 2 organs, a couple of polyphonic and monophonic synthesizers, strings, brass, alto sax and trumpet from my sampler and not all playing at the same time. Mixing all this is quite some work.

It's been a while since I've been on here. I managed to get another song done. This is a cover, and it's more dream pop/alternative rock than prog. I'm a fan of some of that dream pop and shoegaze stuff.
The original version of this song was piano and vocal. I could hear this song working well in a guitar-centric dream pop style.

"Silver Spoon" is great stuff. I love the riff, I love the guitar soloing, the vocals are amazing as usual, and I love the lyrics.

"Desert Sunrise" is great work. I love the guitar solo. I hear echoes of Steve Rothery's tone, phrasing and melodic sense, but it's certainly not derivative.
Best of luck getting an album done.
I'm glad you've found people to collaborate with who are working out well. I know that's quite difficult.

Always enjoy listening to new music from you, it's good to hear a new release.
I try not to use a comparison comment on other's music, but I couldn't help but happily hear some Hogarth/Marillion in the beginning.
Never heard this song before, but I really like your version. Great production and performance.
Thanks for stopping by, and keep writing.

Nice job. Vocals sound absolutely fine to me. Well done! Was not familiar with this tune before this. Story behind it is heartbreaking.

Another new tune from us. This one wanders around a bit as far as style, genre, timing, tempo... it's a bit odd at times. https://soundcloud.com/aranami/hummingbird

Another excellent piece! Interesting, inventive and whimsical (in a positive sense), just like some those early Yes arrangements! Nice playing and great vocal work! I could discuss production details for hours but that's for another day/year/place! Thanks for a very entertaining piece of music!

I like the changes, but yes, there might be just a hair more synchopation in the first 3 minutes than the song warrants, IMO. This will certainly appeal to a prog audience, but may be a bit more powerful if played a more straight ahead, like it turns at the 3:00 mark. The musicisnship can't be questioned - outstanding playing.

"It's awesome to hear that you've got three finished songs ready for recording. That's some serious productivity right there! And the fact that you wrote your latest song using free software instruments is impressive. Kudos to you for making the most of those resources! Now, when it comes to sharing your music and gaining more exposure, have you considered paying for SoundCloud plays? It's a legit way to boost your track's popularity and reach a wider audience. If you're interested, check out this service for some great options to pay for SoundCloud plays. They can help you take your music to the next level and get more ears grooving to your tunes."

Thank you for the listens and feedback!

And BobM - very fair point (and thank you very much for the*"straight talk" - only get better if you hear good constructive feedback - so very much appreciated). We were trying to capture the spaztik, jittery, flight of a hummingbird in the intro and outro sections. Probably overdoing it and definitely overthinking it Will mess with it a bit more once we get the last few (for this go-round) we are working on finished.

Well, one of those songs is older. Wrote it in 2020, but when adding controller-information, like aftertouch the file became very, very big, which caused some problems, so I've decided to limit this a bit.

I don't really understand what the use of payed SoundCloud plays is. You get plays from some random person, who is probably not even listening.

A couple of the people I play with a lot over at Bandlab have formed a group and are putting together an album of originals in the style of Alan Parsons, Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, etc. At lest those who have listened to the first 2 songs have cited those as influences. We call ourselves Cerius Sounds, after the rare night blooming desert flower. It's a cool play on words too.

Here's our 3rd song just released today. Hope you enjoy it. This one is more of an atmospheric ballad.

Well, today I finally recorded the title-track of my next album. I'm not sure if it's perfect, but I just got tired of finetuning everything, so I decided to record it. It is 16 minutes long and in 7/4 and 5/4, so perhaps it is prog.

  25. #1025
And here it is. Perhaps I should change some things in the mix and record another version.

Composition for 2 Hammond organs, 2 pianos and a bunch of other stuff.
    Hammond organ 1: Arturia
Hammond organ2; Nord Electro + Nord G2 Engine for pedals
    Piano 1: Arturia
    Piano 2: Artura
    MiniMoog: Arturia
    Sem: Arturia
    CS-80: Arturia
    Jupiter-8: Arturia
    Yamaha TX81Z: 4 different sounds
Nord G2 Engine: Solo-synthesizer, synthesizer pad, bass pedals organ, bass synthesizer
    Alto saxophone: Akai Z4 sampler
    Trumpet: Akai Z4 sampler
    Brass: Akai Z4 sampler
    Strings: Akai Z4 sampler
All synthesizer sounds are made by me, exept one sound of the Yamaha TX81Z

In a way it's a kind of return to my life in the 80s, when there was a lot happening in my life. Though it was perhaps not a fantastic time, I still remember it a bit fondly, perhaps because I still had a future ahead of me and I dreamed things would get better.
