Does anyone know if there is any news on the Wetton boxed set and also was the first Asia album ever slated for remaster?

They did release a remaster of the first album in 2012, but it was a box set with all kinds of bells and whistles - with a price tag that was kinda hefty, if I recall correctly.

The Asia first album have already some Remastering:
Double CD called ASIA GOLD with all the 3 first albums, plus b-sides and tracks from "then and now" - Remastered by Erick Labson (Universal Mastering Studios West)
Some Universal japanese releases like SACD, SHM-CD, PLATINUM SHM-CD, MQA and so on - Flat transfer by Ellen Fitton from the original analogue master tapes (Universal Mastering Studios, NY, 2010)
Audio Fidelity HDCD, GOLD - Remastered by Kevin Grey (AcousTech Mastering) 2010
I thought I had read somewhere that the first Asia album tapes may have been among those lost in the Universal fire a few years ago...
Universal held a distressing number of the master tapes of some of the seminal recorded music of the 20th century, and much of it was destroyed in that fire. It is far worse than they have ever been willing to admit. Pretty sure Asia was amongst the artists affected. There is a thread on here somewhere with the published list, I think.

see post #3.
I recently bought that MQA-CD x UHQCD from last year, which has a super deluxe OBI
The LP I bought when it was released, but I hadn't played it in ages. The last couple of weeks made me realize what a fine album this is, with John Wetton singing some really emotional lines. The only track I could do without is One Step Closer, while Without You might be my favourite song.
No amount of remastering will fix the first Asia album. It needs remixing. All that reverb on it is like eating icing with no cake.
There were actually 2 different Asia s/t boxed sets released simultaneously: the US one linked above and the japanese one, with different video content:

There was an additional japanese super-extra-premium deluxe edition which added 4 complete current (2012) soundboard shows performed in Japan (TokyoX2, Osaka and Nagoya) and an Alpha 1983 tourbook replica.
The japanese shows have remained exclusive to that release.
