I wish I could get excited, but as much as I really like The Quest, and feel Jon D is much better on it.
I just don't enjoy it when they perform live anymore. Jon D, just doesn't work for me on the live stuff.

I'm interested to hear Jon D singing The Quest material live. I see them in a week.

That's a very interesting setlist. Link

Pretty cool description of the warm up show from an attendee:

All respect...they may not focus on current material but Yes constantly puts a few surprise zingers in the mix.
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

I've read a few FB post where people were surprised by the opening number.. that was revealed months ago in a band interview
I believe this was the interview with Jon Kirkman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWYjN7H776c

"The rarely played On The Silent Wings Of Freedom, got things going, before the set, like the upcoming tour, dedicated to late drummer Alan White, upped the ante with Yours Is No Disgrace and No Opportunity Necessary. "

... is a poorly written run-on sentence, but points to them for getting a review up quickly.

I think he meant, "The rarely played On The Silent Wings Of Freedom got things going. The tour is dedicated to late drummer Alan White. The set then upped the ante with Yours Is No Disgrace and No Opportunity Necessary."

    Agreed. Awful.

I'd prefer to have waited five more minutes for a touch of proofreading before they barfed it onto the internet in the name of being first.

I was rather looking forward to seeing the Royal Albert Hall show next week but the train strike has made that impossible for me and many others I expect

That setlist is pretty damn good. I'd be pleased if they brought it to the states next year and just swapped the CTTE songs for Relayer songs.
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.

The plan is US dates this year, October-ish, although unclear with CttE or Relayer.

I like that the article mentions Mostly Autumn as I love that band! Unrelated of course. I'd see Yes even without Howe at such a small venue. What a treat. I'm looking forward to hearing On the Silent Wings of Freedom. Such a fun, energetic track that the band talked about how it always fell apart live back when they were still in the 1970's, so I'm intrigued to see what Howe's Yes has come up with live so many years later. It's one of my favorite Alan tracks.

Love Billy's bow after that "And You and I" trainwreck. Geoff looks weirdly useless on "Roundabout." Even Tony Kaye managed to keep himself occupied during those parts, with both hands, no less! Cracked up at how Geoff holds up one finger at 4:00 as if to say, "Ooh, I remember the lick that goes here!"

Oof. That was pretty painful. Obviously early in the process, but it's hard to even imagine this group pulling off Relayer in any kind of convincing fashion. IMO, Yes (Official) is now (officially) a cover band, and not a particularly good one.

I really hate the way Howe mucks around with the 'Würm' chords at the end of Starship Trooper, and that's nothing new, he's been doing it for decades. They've just never sounded right to me all jagged like that; I much prefer the smooth and steady, relentless rhythm of the original.

^^ Yep, the video seems to have vanished. First official show tonight, lets hope the Glasgow crowd will be gentle with them!

Is that the way you'd generally describe Glasgow audiences?

Just saw a clip of the opening of the show someone posted on FB. Silent Wings doesn't have the long jazzy opening; after 'Firebird Suite', Schellen simply counted them in with a slow fill and they started with the guitar swells just before the vocals begin. It's a bit strange actually.
