my friend, I meant no disrespect to you in responding to your comments.
Oh man, the printed word on forums is so unforgiving, isn't it?
We disagree and that's cool and I'm glad you are expressing how you feel about Yes, just as I have.

The most recent live concert wasn't available on DVD this time. I had kind of hoped they would've made one for Topographic Drama because I love Drama and a lot of the music on Topgraphic.

I have to say, Dave Kerzner just posted on FB a sample of a new song for his new In Continuum album(Part II) which is he and Jon D singing harmony on one of the songs and it sounds wonderful.

I hope you can get a chance to see Yes perform Gates on this tour.

Squire explained why they didn't do it in the past. He could see parts of the audience falling asleep whenever they played something off of Tales or Relayer. I can't see him agreeing to doing 40 minutes.

OK, then how do you explain the Masterworks tour, where they played both Ritual and Gates Of Delirium? From what I gather, that tour was well received, and they did both those pieces again on the following year's Yessymphonic tour.

Weren't they already doing the full albums thing before Squire went home? What's the difference between doing Close To The Edge in it's entirety, and diong Relayer in it's entirety?

And even if you thought, "OK, we can't do the entire album", then why not swap out Gates and do side two instead? Or if Sound Chaser is "too much", then just do To Be Over. What was wrong with that?! Why couldn't we get them to do To Be Over when both Jon and Chris were around?!

Yes, as much as I hate to admit it, 45 years ago would be 1974, and yes, they did play the entire album in 1974-1975. They also played both Gates Of Delirium and Sound Chaser in 1976.

I misread what Henry wrote. I thought he was saying 20 years ago since that was stated.

I'm just reporting what Squire said. I first heard "Ritual" off of Yesstory and liked it immediately and probably would have taken to it in concert as well. "Gates of Delirium" is a very different type of song.

I think Squire, and Anderson, were not as enamoured of the album as Howe is.

Relayer is a very guitar oriented album and Howe sure enjoys playing it Live. I was fortunate to see the Masterworks and Symphonic Yes tours when they last performed Ritual and Gates on the same set list and I can't say enough how incredible and brilliant it was. So now, without Jon and Chris it will make a huge difference but that is what makes this next tour so interesting. And besides the personal fact that this is my favorite Yes album right after TFTO and Drama that were already played together with this current lineup and honestly did a fantastic job!

Now...if only we could get the Roger Dean winged scarab and organic articulating pedals would be a great icing on the cake, right?

Well, Relayer is probably my favourite Yes album, alongside CttE. But I don’t see this current lineup doing it justice because: (1) Unless Howe gritties up his sound, it won’t have the visceral tone it needs, given he’s so dominant; and (2) Patrick Moraz was capable of pulling off the symphonic stuff..,but he was also a pretty capable jazz player...Geoff Downey, I’m sorry to say, is not.

So while I’d love to see the album played live (never did...saw the TfTO tour and then missed them until the “in the round” tour, when ?Wakeman was back in the fold.

I often wonder where Yes might have gone had Moraz remained with the band a few years longer....

Geoff Downes is the Rodney Dangerfield of Yes. I always felt that his lack of ability is greatly exaggerated.

Not 'lack of ability'. I wouldn't say he's a Wakeman/Moraz-style soloist. He's more of a textural player, is all. It's a bit 'square peg in a round hole' for me.

By the same token, I always thought Moraz greatly overplayed on most of the Kaye/Wakeman-era songs that line-up played.

Really it's a good thing that all four of those keyboard players brought something unique to the table, as far as studio material went.

I happen to love Geoff's keyboard playing. He's not a showboat player, although I believe can play as good as anyone out there, but as mentioned earlier he's great at finding the perfect melody and texture to blend in to the music and also comes up with some incredible earworms.
He knows when to play a simple background pad to highlight a part or when to put in accent parts. To me, this in itself is a talent.
There are players who can play 1000 notes a minute and are quite technical and they sound great, but I prefer players who have that "feel"(like Tony Banks, Richard Wright, Mark Kelly, etc).

If we look at Yes and the history of the keyboard players they all brought their own unique personal style to the band and the music. I like every one of them, yet I do tend to favor the Wakeman years because of the era and music that was written and recorded then. Tony Kaye is also awesome, he has a down to earth organic style that fits in with the earlier stuff as well as Sherwood's Circa .

I have played keyboards in bands - and I wish I could play as poorly as Geoff Downes! I think that Downes' personal taste might not be the same as Moraz, but he's a professional and I am sure he'll work hard to prepare himself for the Relayer material. I'm eager to hear Steve Howe present that classic Telecaster solo on Soundchaser - I wonder if he can pull it off. That's one of my favorite things he has put on record. To my ears, Steve Howe does many many things as well as he ever did - but a few signature guitar bits, such as the 12 string solo on Awaken, or all of Tempus Fugit, sound to me as if they should be retired from live performance. (by the way, I also wish I could play the guitar as poorly as Steve Howe!)

Yes did have some shitty album titles. Relayer? Tormato? What the hell is a “relayer”, anyway?

The lyrics of TfTO seem to associate the word "Relayer" with Jesus Christ ("All the passion spent on one cross"); I always took it as a reference to Jesus "relaying" God's grace to mankind.
