"YES regret to inform our fans that due to the Coronavirus Pandemic and our concerns about the safety of our fans, the forthcoming European and UK Relayer Album Tour Dates have been postponed to 2021.
We will let you know the re-scheduled dates as soon as they are confirmed – all tickets will be valid for the new shows. More details to follow.
We hope everyone keeps safe and well, stay healthy, keep playing the music and we’ll see you on the other side."
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.
We are reading more and more about the financial hit bands are taking due to cancellation of tours.
I think a great way to supplement their income would be to perform a full length concert and record it for a Blu Ray or DVD format.
They could rent a warehouse or a small venue, set up lighting and audio and film it.(A small crowd of friends and families or whatever is deemed safe, even if that means no audience at all)
Of course it would have to be with minimal cameras and not a full fledged DVD with 10 or more cameras.
But fans who missed the tour would get a chance to purchase and view it and it would put some bread in the musicians pockets to tide them over until they can tour again.
Kind of like a bootleg, but with much better quality.
Desperate times call for desperate measures..time to be creative and fight for survival. Nothing is off the table.

True as of now, but there is nothing that can’t change if people are hungry enough. It depends on how long the current limitations are. I personally think postponing till 2021 is too extreme. And I don’t want someone else say we don’t know how bad it’s going to be given that the likelihood of death from a child with flu is higher (yes I know about the worst case claims based on the Italian situation caused by Chinese investment and travel to Northern Italy) even with vaccination. The bands we are talking about are not in the poor house.

All you need is one roadie with the virus to potentially kill an entire band. Otherwise, think about it:
To play a real concert, the guitarist needs a guitar tech. Who now has to sanitize and wipe down every guitar and glove up before handing it to the guitarist. And repeat that for every exchange throughout the concert. Or do without the guitar tech and stop between every song. Multiply that by each player. Can you imagine all the extra work required of the sound and lighting crews to sanitize everything they touch every time they touch it?
The need for isolation and distancing is real. Its purpose is to reduce risk. I'm not about to ask my favorite musicians to assume more risk just for my entertainment.
You make some valid points, but perhaps you misinterpreted my intent.
My suggestion was less about being selfish and ask for entertainment from our favorite bands, but a way to supplement their income during this crisis.
We are constantly reading stories about how they will struggle, even to the point of setting up fundraisers(Pendragon for example).
Poisoned Youth made some great points about how even streaming could put the crew and band at risk.
Anyone with alternative suggestions other than what's already been put in place(Bandcamp, Go Fund Me), please feel free to contribute.

Big Big Train and Marillion both recently kicked off paid fan clubs, that are unashamedly designed to give us ways to support the bands financially. Many other bands could do the same. The demand for unreleased and bonus material is always high. They could begin crowd-funded projects intended to be completed after the crisis ends, that they can be working on using the hiatus.
Of course, many of these bands share the same fan base, and most of our resources are especially limited right now. Still, it’s still a money-for-something world, and if my favorite musicians have something to sell me, I’m listening. The band in question, particularly, has an especially rich archive available for mining if they need ready cash.

Bands can put more time into getting archival releases out. Yes management are working on the BBC recordings/early years release. Of course, that doesn't help Davison's, Sherwood's or Downes' income. We also know there are other things being worked on or ready to go: they've got their updated version of "Go Through This".
I suspect a band webcast is not possible given they live in three different countries. However, Steve Howe could do a solo show as a webcast. They can get on with writing their new album: Howe has been adamant that he wants to do that with everyone together rather than by sharing files online, but needs must.

At a general level I am wondering how much production and distribution of physical music media is going to be affected for new releases. If cd factories close then we may have to put up with MP3's which is not a happy thought.
Update: Amazon have 'temporarily' stopped stocking cd's and vinyl
