Sound Card help

All of a sudden my Audacity program wont isolate tracks...so when I overdub i get the previous track as well.
Some help forums suggest that my sound card driver is at fault, or that the sound card it self is not up to par.
Any suggestions for upgrading my sound card? I'm still in the Digital Workstation mentality and need to get used to computer recording.
I would appreciate any opinions on whether its a driver or a sound card issue

The issue is more likely the way your sound card routes your playback. Driver issues should only occur if you have upgraded Audacity or Windows, or if you have a new sound card. The most likely culprit may be your mixer settings.
