I did. Bummer is that the shipping costs more than the book. Oh well.

    No, no. Don't be silly!

Steven simply edited Sid's original text to his own tastes, and put stuff from Sid's rough draft back in. It truly reveals the spirit of the (original and flawed) book's intention.

In a nutshell, what are the extra bits and do they justify a rebuy?

He just remixed the Sound of the pages flipping...

I hope Wilson was able to use all the mayhem sound effects for the Fripp/Haskell 'battle sequence' in Lizard. Otherwise, what's the point of a 5.1 remix ?

Well, first of all, many people have never been able to lay hands on the first version since it is out of print.

Second of all, the original book came out years ago so the 2000’s have not been covered. Many of us are very intrigued at the reformation of the band and all the ins and outs of the recent past.

I remember it being reported that Sid had conducted a long interview with Fripp for this. Fripp’s participation to the original had been via e-mail (or blog posts) so hopefully there should be some of that at least. Maybe he’s also talked to Mel a bit more ? Then of course there’s the coverage of what’s happened since 2002...

Lovecraft (just like me) asked if there's something to justify a rebuy, so only your second thought is valid.
The 2000's brought about 354 live-CD's (oh, wait, 355.... - still counting) and 1 studio-album if I'm correct (The Power To Believe) + A Scarcity Of Miracles, so it will be very much about the reformation, not a lot about new music. So I think I pass on this one.

    Thanks.

Nothing here to justify another purchase for me.

Who can say for sure at this point ? (Not talking about you specifically of course, just anyone who bought the original.)

Maybe Sid has significantly reworked/added to the existing chapters, not merely updated the story to 2019. I haven't really read anything that clarifies this.

What exactly WOULD justify re-purchasing the book for you ?

In addition to revisions to the original, another 20 years (well, almost) of history? I'm looking forward to reading it, even though I've still got my copy of the original.

The description on the Burning Shed page, says: "Long out of print and double the size of its predecessor, the book includes material from King Crimson’s archives plus much previously unpublished material."

Oh I'd definitely reconsider if there turns out to be substantially more 69-74 material. Not fussed about anything after that.

Plus, it comes with a postcard signed by Sid Smith himself! I mean, if that isn't worth an upgrade...

I never got the original, so I definitely want it.

I came across it at Book Depository at a great delivered price of $29.95 Canadian. At that price I ordered.
