Adam Minkoff from Dweezil Zappas band

Saw the Dweez last night performing 1969s Hot Rats album in its entirety and lots of Zappas late 70s/early 80s vocal material.

An all around great & entertaining show at the 700 seat club The Warehouse in Fairfield Ct.

The standout for me was singer/multi instrumentalist Adam Minkoff, who played guitar, drums, keys, flute and sounded like FZ when he sang!

Major avant proggy talent I think most would enjoy here.

    More:

EDIT: This contains quite a fine arrangement of The Rite of Spring - one of the better ones I've heard - which echoes some of FZ's work for both the original Mothers and the '88 Tour Band. It's faithful to Stravinsky's original, yet makes it rock and swing as well in quite an appealing way. This and most tracks are scored for a medium-sized jazz ensemble - trumpet, trombone, alto sax, tenor sax, keyboards, guitar, bass, and drums. Minkoff plays all the bass parts, some of the guitars, and occasional piano and percussion. A few tracks have a female vocalist; Minkoff doesn't sing at all.

His Morricone covers are also pretty great.

I was going to go to the Cleveland show, but it's sold out. Never occurred to me that would be the case.

I caught Minkoff with Dweezil in April 2018. I enjoyed his performance. He seemed very relaxed and confident. A great addition to the band. I'm sorry I missed the show here last Thursday night. A tainted meal at a local eatery the night before sealed my fate.

Thanks, John! I recovered in time to make the Steve Hackett show on Friday. It was a great night, so I'm satisfied.
