Steve - just for asking, Henry Kaiser's just doing the two Rhizome dates?

Ran into a friend @ Progday who is very interested in seeing him (the phrase "bucket list" might even have been used) but isn't exactly in the neighborhood.
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Henry is coming out specifically to:

    1) Eat as much Ethiopian food as he can in the 3 days in Silver Spring, where the last time I counted, there were 34 Ethiopian restaurants within walking distance of my home [amazingly enough, this is a true fact]

    2) Visit me and Joyce.

    3) Play a pair of fun shows in a place where he can do whatever he wants with no pressure constraints.

    1) is definitely the main reason. I'm not so certain about the order of 2) and 3).

He does play the east coast (usually NYC) seemingly at least once a year, but these dates are only DC; he's flying in on Thursday and flying out on Sunday.

I'll definitely try and get him to more regularly send me his dates though......

    p.s.

Does your bucket-list friend want to come up? It's closer than NYC (assuming he / she is in the south) and that's usually the only place HK plays on the East Coast

    SUNDAY SEPT 29 2019
    THE BACK ROOM
1984 Bonita Ave, Berkeley, CA 94704

Bruce Ackley & Henry Kaiser Explore the Music of Steve Lacy

Featuring Bruce Ackley (soprano sax), Scott R. Looney (piano), Danielle DeGruttola (cello), Nava Dunkelman (percussion), Henry Kaiser (electric guitar & electric bass) and Lisa Mezzacappa (acoustic bass).

Kaiser and Ackley have a 4-decade recording and performance history that stretches back to the 1970’s, when each was deeply touched by Lacy’s unique style and acute intellectualism, which helped to reshape the sound of jazz.

They have formed a six-piece ensemble to present a tribute to jazz iconoclast and cultural treasure, soprano saxophonist Steve Lacy. Together the sextet promises a compelling and lyrical evening of compositions by the late jazz master. Four of the players were part of a recent re-imagining of Lacy’s classic 1970’s recording The Wire, which will be a forthcoming CD, and this program will consist of Lacy compositions from those sessions and more.

I saw the Charles Wright Trio play at one of them. I think it was on the corner of the block where Ben's Chili Bowl is.

^^^ She's booked at "Club Hancher" which appears to be a smaller performance space within our large University arts auditorium complex. From the pic below I'm guessing 75-100?

Any word on what Anthony will do on this occasion? I might be inclined to hitch an Amtrak down for that.

Good question and I don't know. It just says it's by his quartet. It's a talk and a 60' show
