    Ranking The Pineapple Thief Albums

Any The Pineapple Thief fans out there? I confess that I am new to them. Could everyone rank their best albums to start with?

    Thanks in advance.

Tough one. I have been a fan since I discovered "Variations On A Dream" back in 2003. It is not recorded all that well, but remains a favorite. If I had to pick a favorite I would probably go with "Your Wilderness". I thought the most recent one was a bit of a step back and not quite as good for some reason. "Little Man", "Tightly Unwound", "All The Wars", "Magnolia" and "Someone Here Is Missing" are all solid albums.

Most TPT albums are good to above average. I personally feel their strongest material is from about 2006 until about 2013. I would suggest that these albums represent their most progressive work and are definitely worth seeking out if you're a Porcupine Tree fan with a more emo vibe.

These would probably be my top 5:

    1. Tightly Unwound (2008)
    2. Someone Here Is Missing (2010)
    3. What We Have Sown (2007)
    4. All The Wars (2012)
    5. Little Man (2006)

I'm in the minority here but Your Wilderness is my favorite.

    I like the music.
Not a completist , I bought 3000 Days and enjoy it.
A best of sort of says it all.
I have Magnolia and Your Wilderness also. I think I favor Your Wilderness by a hair.

They are a group that I have always thought I should like, but I never found anything that connected with me. When Dissolution came out last year I listened and found that I enjoyed it. I started working my way backwards through their discography and was surprised that I liked more of their material than I had in the past.

I started with the 3000 Days compilation which was enough for me to want to hear more of their music. I find most of their work pretty solid stuff. I especially like What We Have Sown, Little Man and Tightly Unwound. The most recent two albums with Gavin Harrison on drums have both seen heavy rotation as well.

I did that. Bought 3000 Days and backfilled with a few favorites.

Only with Under the Umbrella and Sleep With the Fishes. Nice ones, I prefer them to anything Pineapple Thief.

I picked up Your Wilderness on a whim (mostly because Gavin played on it). I enjoyed it, but it didn't drive me to dig into their catalog. Hearing that their earlier stuff is a bit more progressive, perhaps I'll give them another listen.
