In my humble opinion, it was The Incredible String Band with their "progressive" take on folk.
What are your thoughts?

Oh thank you, but it isn't. Actually, British Folk is the best https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQf_l_DctNM
Are you physically able to write more than one sentence without posting a YT link or is that built into your OS ?

"Improvisation is not an excuse for musical laziness" - Fred Frith
"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM
There's always been a certain number of people on here like that. Ones considerably worse, for that matter. Svetoonio is just annoying in a way analogous to Wallace - he posts too many YT links, states his opinions as facts, and will argue an unimportant point into the ground, whereas there've been some like Jegheist who were more-or-less seriously disturbed, made threats, stalked, or presented frightening and borderline evil political opinions.
I guess there's some who are very lonely, and this community is pretty broad-minded and accepting. You only need to have a liking for a particular set of unpopular musical sub-genres, a willingness to discuss mostly those, and a certain amount of basic Internet etiquette to be accepted here. Stick around for a while and you may actually wind up respected, or at least considered a "character" and tolerated.
I don't get why you self-appointed internet police are all upset. I thought it was a perfectly reasonable question: which band(s) at Woodstock were the most progressive?
I thought ISB is a pretty fair answer too. Certainly Hendrix showed progressive tendencies (later) and Santana went a little jazzy (later) and The Who did "Tommy" just a couple months before Woodstock, but mostly Woodstock was mainstream rock acts doing their mainstream radio hits live on-stage. ISB certainly didn't fit that mold.
^ No one's "upset" about the contents of a claim. ISB have been discussed in here a couple of hundred times and were a fantastic combo during their early years. But that's not the point.
The point is that this very thread is posted not from an incentive of discussion, but as an excuse simply to mark one's enduring presence here.
And we're not self-appointed, we were sanctioned by Executive joint Committee chief-of-staff WebPolice Bureau. Only lunatics are allowed in.

The problem is not the content of his opinions, but the maelstrom of YouTube links that makes it impossible for users to scroll the thread so they can read what they want. My short-memory notebook crushes in this kind of threads. I am sure this has been explained to him in many ways, and I really don't get his persistence. One cannot be allowed to ruin the PE experience for others out of sheer stubbornness.
Apart from that, no problem for me.
Well, t hen everyone's guilty, because that occurs in practically every thread. People act like they can't simply post a simple link to Youtube, instead of embedding. And it's not just on this forum either, others that I post on, like the Telecaster Discussion Page, has the same issue. Sometimes it takes several minutes for a given page to load, because of all the embedded Youtube links.
Evidently you are not acquainted with the YT-link "artiste" that is/was Svetonio. His use of them has been described as "carpet bombing". We're talking of one person posting dozens of embedded YT videos at a time, each accompanied by a single sentence "pitch". I agree that there's too much of that going on usually, whether here or on "social" media, but this is a different issue.

I allways thought that the YT links in the posts were (mostly) useful and informative, they helped me to discover and appreciate many great bands that I never knew existed. Also, I didn't know that we can be banned from PE for this reason, thus from now on I'll be VERY careful before ading a YT link in my future posts.
I didn't found anything about this but I think editing a (reply to) quote is not a recommended practice here (does it break any PE rules ?) but I usually remove the YT link from the quote to avoid closely repeated space consuming embedded large pictures which could slow down the reading when scrolling through the posts.
I didn't followed the past history of this multi-recidivist/multi-banned/multi-ID OP, but I found his particular thread above non-invasive and appropriate.

If it's one or two links at a time, it's ok. But as Calyx pointed out we're talking about 10 YT links in a single post, which is a problem.
Further on, to post YT links for stuff like the studio versions of Jethro Tull or Gentle Giant is a bit silly. I mean if I want to refer to Aqualung, do I really have to give the link to it?
It's a pity because some of Svet's contributions are worthwhile.
Let's see......
......Maslin joined yesterday, immediately posted a YouTube link. I wonder........
^I fear it's pathological at this point.
More psych than prog, but interesting psych.
Also, their drummer was Roger North, who later became semi-famous as the manufacturer of North drums, which looked like sousaphone bells. You might have seen some, back in the day. He lives here in Portland, but I've never met him.
I disagree. For me, it's progressive rock. And according to Wikipedia, it seems like I'm not the only one who think so:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quill_(band)Quill's music was eclectic, social commentary, sometimes poetic, sometimes ironic, merged with very unusual, at times nearly atonal scales. Although for some in the drug-induced haze of the 1960s, Quill music could be quite stimulating, it was never intended to be psychedelic music, and actually had a somewhat anti-hedonist slant.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quill_(album)Quill is the only album by the band of the same name, released in 1970 on the Cotillion Records label. Although largely ignored upon release, the album has regained "cult" status with the advent of modern technology, such as downloading. The album is notable for its use of both minimalist (Yellow Butterfly, Too Late) and extravagant (They Live The Life, BBY, Shrieking Finally) sounds, on the same album. It is commonly criticized for its heavy use of unconventional chord changes and odd sound dynamics, which sometimes range from standard blues changes to completely original chord patterns and its mostly pessimistic, often dark lyrics. For many reasons, the album was not a critical, nor commercial success.

There's no presedence for this. During middle ages when inhabitors were sometimes expelled from their walled villages, they couldn't simply don a wig, a bad attempt at new accent and a lie to just return in order to repeat the process indefinitely if expelled again. Not merely because they would eventually be slain but because one figured there was a minimum of self-respect involved.
This is obviously an age of utter desperation. Even Schopenhauer would have committed suicide in sheer disgust with at least one of those two pistols he'd stuck under the pillow.
