Jon Anderson found touring with Yes "too stressful"

What's better than a new Jon Anderson post?

    Goldmine interviews Jon...

    https://www.goldminemag.com/articles...-in-good-hands

I found this quote of interest, where he is being asked about revisiting the 1000 Hands/Uzlot project over the years:

Goldmine: …but you would revisit it from time to time while being wrapped up in everything else.

JA: Life! Touring mostly with Yes, and I did a lot of solo shows after I got sick. I didn’t want to tour with Yes anymore because it was just too stressful. There was so much going on within the band itself and with management, that it was out of control. I’m no puppet. I’m down-to-earth but I want to get stuff done. I have dreams to fulfill. As soon as the Internet opened up, I got in touch with (guitarist) Steve (Howe) and (bassist) Chris (Squire). I said, “Please send me MP3s and we’ll work together around the world no matter where we are.” Six months later, still no response. So I put an ad on my website: “Musicians Wanted” and got hundreds of replies. I said send me music and I will get back to the people I could. I got back to a dozen or so people… and I’m still in touch with them. We create music on an open level. It’s not business.

Seems to be a new take on the "I got sick and Yes moved on without me" story. Also, it might be the first interview with Jon in recent times where he wasn't asked about ARW.

I would LOVE to know the 'business' side of his online collaborations i.e.: show he splits profits and royalties etc

Well, you can't deny that Jon is "down-to-earth."

Listening to him does the same thing to Me.
“Pleasure and pain can be experienced simultaneously,” she said, gently massaging my back as we listened to her Coldplay CD.

Let's not make sport of this. Jon is a deeply practical man, not given to flights of fancy. What they used to call, "The Salt Of The Earth." It's high time we all got in line and recognized that.

He is a poetic fellow. I don’t know all the history but it at least appears, if we believe Joh, that he was given the silent finger by his ex-band mates and is open to collaborating with new people who are not necessarily established. Seems like a good thing on his part. Tell me what I’m missing.

That is a really good, intelligent, interview.

Jon is a pure spirit. Nothing fake there.

The main takeaway from that paragraph is that Jon lives in a version of reality where the late '90s, 2004 and 2008 are all happening at the same time, and where nothing is ever his fault.

    I think this is accurate.

Interesting interview, except I found myself skipping through some of the stuff.
My attention did peak when Jon spoke of streaming and getting 25% because most of the stats I've seen from the streaming services are much much lower percentage than that.
I'm sure there are a whole lot of musicians out there getting stiffed by streaming like Splotify who would like to know how he gets 25%.
Then he spoke of streaming/selling on his own site and gets all the profits. In today's world that makes the most sense, and I think any band out there wishing to take control of their music and profits needs to look at the Marillion business model.

My guess is that Anderson don't know the difference between 0,0025% and 25%...

Maybe he asked for 25% from streaming. He allegedly wanted 50% for the Close to Edge and Back tour in 2008.

Howe has talked about the material Anderson offered in 2008. Basically, he and the others weren't into it. Anderson has a history of exaggerating downwards the communication he's had from the others, so I take his comments here with a pinch of salt.

I don't care if Jon doesn't work with Yes anymore. His latest solo album is better than the latest Yes album and at least he isn't satisfied with only touring like Yes, he's creating some new music.

If you dig deep enough I'm sure the same could be said for both Howe and Squire..

    Indeed. It was WAY better.

I'm sure Howe and Squire have their own flaws -- I'm not saying they're the "good guys" in this divorce -- but I can't think of any instances where they've shown this particular character trait.

Squire was the opposite. He tended to play down, or flatly deny, any drama. He'd say they were all happy friends even while their lawyers were firing letters at each other.

Anderson used to be like a god to me, his spiritual words and music were obviously a key part of what made Yes great. Sadly he is no longer the man he used to be as proved by this cringingly awful song and video of Makes Me Happy. Enough proof surely that he should never rejoin Yes.

That song makes me more happy than majority of Heaven And Earth.

I like that song, but it's only one side of what Anderson is doing these days. It's not typical of 1000 Hands and we've also had the four instrumental long-form pieces on YouTube.
