    Big Ears 2020

I'm not planning on going, but they've announced the dates and I found the last year thread fun, so I am starting 2020's thread now:

"Next year, Big Ears 2020 will open on Thursday, March 26, and continue through Sunday, March 29. We plan to announce most of our line up in early October, and we’ll put tickets on sale at that time too."

Any time any one speaks to me about any musical project, the one absolute given is "it will not make big money". [tip of the hat to HK]

"Death to false 'support the scene' prog!"

please add 'imo' wherever you like, to avoid offending those easily offended.

    Oh, you went there.

OMG BIG BIG TRAIN SHOULD TOTALLY PLAY NEXT YEAR
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Also, Ephemeral Sun: it's a thing and we like making things that might be your thing: https://ephemeralsun.bandcamp.com

    Actual wish list:

Morton Subotnick / Suzanne Ciani (don't necessarily need both but either one would be lovely)
    Ben Frost
    Lustmord
    Elephant9
    Ulver
Ergo (are they still even a thing, Steve?)
    Franck Vigroux
    Stereolab
Thom Yorke (mostly because I can't get f*ck-all tickets to see him when he comes through my area )
    Zoviet France or Rapoon
    Deaf Center

    Ian,

talking totally out of my ass, I would guess that the only possible ones of what you write above would be:

    Brandt Brauer Frick
    Elephant9
    Gogo Penguin

My *guess* is that they don't have an idea of a clue of who the others are.

John has a better idea than Ian of what it seems likely COULD play Big Ears. I think.

I would think that all except Ergo might be on their radar. And Ergo has vanished into the ether anyway.

The only possible gotcha with Elephant9 is just that it might be better/easier to bring over not just those cats but a few of the related bands. They would've been a perfect fit the year Supersilent/Deathprod/Henriksen/Storløkken played in various configurations.

Sad but not stunned about Ergo. I'm very very glad to have seen them at all (twice even).

Actually, I'd add Wume to my list too. They'd be a grand old hoot of a time. And I didn't mention them as Ian did but BBF would indeed be a bunch of fun too

I can't believe they got Fred Lane. WOW.

This album is a classic. A CLASSIC.

The band can't be the same without Cyd Charise though.....

I saw the announcement today, but wasn't familiar with either name TBH. Sounds like something I'd best bone up on!

    Good Day music folks!

I'm listening to some more Fred Lane as I type. Some Google research too. Hmmmmm two apparently well noted releases in the 70's. Is that correct? Can't help to think of Zappa & Ed Palermo from the get go.

Glad I opened up this thread! A little less squonking would be better for these ears... yeah BUT

    Carry On

Both Fred Lane albums are 80s releases!

There is a new one. I will see it Thursday. I think it’s old, never released stuff, but I don’t know.

Great internet quote re: FRED LANE

“...for the world can easily be divided into two camps; those that will purchase an LP sporting a picture of a handlebar-mustachioed and bespectacled cat in a tux with band-aids slapped all over his face and those who most definitely will not.”
