New Neo/Symphonic Prog from Atlanta, GA - Give Us A Listen!

Hello all! I'm Daniel Graham, the bassist/vocalist and primary songwriter for a trio from Atlanta, GA called Great Wide Nothing. We released our debut album back in April, and I'd love to hear what fellow proggers think of it.

The record is called "The View From Olympus", and it's out on Spotify at https://open.spotify.com/album/2RGwGrbfrLUazyrFJ7ZRD3

You can buy a copy if you dig it at https://greatwidenothing.bandcamp.com!

If you feel so inclined, leave me some feedback in this thread!

Thanks so much. Hope you enjoy the album!

    Thanks for charing.

    Great cover!

Just listened to a few tracks. Wonderful organ-playing, well arranged. Reminds me a bit of Iluvatar.

    Good luck.

Just listened to a couple of tunes on Bandcamp and I agree with the above Illuvatar(great band) reference.
I think there is quite a bit of good songwriting on these songs, but to be honest I found the distorted organ distracting since it's used so much for the main keyboard part.
A little bit of a sweet thing like that goes a long way, and perhaps something a bit softer since it was distracting me away from the vocals and other instruments. And then highlight the distorted organ bits when you really want to emphasize a point.
But that's just my opinion and that's worth about a nickel but I'll give you change regardless.lol

Thanks for stopping by and sharing with this great community of music lovers.
My hope is you stick around and participate in other threads and let us get to know you in the future.

Sounds great! I plan to come back and listen some more when I get time, but based on what I just heard...well done!

Thanks for the feedback guys! It's interesting how often we've gotten the Iluvatar comparison lately. I've actually never gotten around to giving them a listen, myself. What's a good record to start with?

They are all good, but for probably sentimental reasons I'm quite partial to the first two, the self titled and CHILDREN. But you really can't go wrong with Iluvatar if you like melodic prog.

I agree about the first two, and also agree about the sentimental/personal reasons, but they are excellent regardless.
Illuvatar went through some lineup changes during their time together and for quite a few years quit playing live/recording. (Their bass player Mick Taylor who played on the first album unfortunately passed away recently.
After 15 years they released their most recent album From the Silence in 2014. I bought it as soon as I discovered it had been released and I love it.
Much of the Illuvatar vibe is still there, but a bit different but just as good as I remembered.

To my fellow Illuvatar fans check it out.

Daniel, I'm not sure but I think the Facebook-link on Bandcamp isn't working.

Thanks Top Cat! That performance definitely turned out well, and it's good to know that people dig it. It's always a massive undertaking to pull the suite off live, but it usually ends up being the highlight of our gigs.
