Jay Z. also sampled the greek heavy rock monster rarity 4 LEVELS OF EXISTENCE on his track "Run This Town". These hip-hoppers seem to have all gone crate digging...
^ Just like some historical and/or biographical authors keep their own little cartel of employed "sourcetrackers" (check A. Beevor, for instance), some hipshopsters appear to surround themselves with folks whose sole task is to dig up (preferably long-forgotten) pricks, licks and riffs for new use or reconstruction.
That way, they don't have to come up with things themselves. Just like in large parts of so-called "prog".
