Dedicated to my best friend of 55 years, Darel Stevens who passed away on Dec 29, 2017.
There are several images of Heaven as well as Jesus in the instrumental portion of this video, if these bother you, PLEASE fast forward to 2:14 and listen to Darel's song There. The images are a result of my conversations on the phone with Darel following his surgeries. And those images are part of the story of Darel's journey and his experience which he shared with me. They are not meant to promote any religion or belief system by me.
Let me go consists of 2 songs, the first half, written by myself, is the instrumental section of Alone and The Promise,while Song 2, "There" rises slowly in the mix against the backdrop of waves and seagulls and Darel's song finishes the piece.
There was re-imagined and recorded by Darel several years ago.
It was inspired and co-written in the 70's with his bandmate and friend Marv Cripps.
Alone and The Promise were recorded by myself upon learning Darel had been rushed to the hospital after another seizure due to his brain cancer.
He was placed on a ventilator and remained unresponsive for several days.
I wrote Alone and the Promise as I could only imagine the struggle emotionally of feeling trapped between worlds. After several days he awoke and was later sent home with home hospice care.
(Darel's faith and positive attitude remained with him during this entire illness.
The song There speaks of a reflection on life and I thought it was the perfect Darel song to finish Let me go.
