Free Human Zoo No Wind Tonight

Just exploring this double CD from this French band. Totally blown away by much of it. Wondering if any body is familiar with it? Can hear a few Magma influences here and there , but I am mostly reminded of the work of Neil Ardley in albums such as Kaleidoscope of Rainbows and Harmony of the Spheres.

Anyway if you have not heard it ..its very interesting and well worth checking out

I heard their first CD "Freedom, Now!" a few years ago, which gave me the strange feeling I heard Bill Bruford's Earth Works with a guitarist, although there were also things like Noetra, Loose Tubes, classical and minimal music. I liked it. This new one has the band slightly changed (new guitarist and piano-player), while there are also a couple of guests on all kinds of flutes and percussion and a soprano singer. The work is quite impressive, especially the first disk, which contains the 11 part Bab'Y, about a massacre in Babi Yar in 1941. The second disk starts with a rare mix of medieval folk and jazz, based on lyrics from Carmina Burana.

All in all I really like this one too. Reminds me slightly of Ghost Rhythms, After Crying, Isildurs Bane and Noetra.

Listen to this (especially the great fretless bass):

That's funny I just mentioned Ghost Rhythms. Both bands recently played on a festival: https://www.weezevent.com/ghost-rhyt...2n49iW9-C9a7SY

Not a festival, just a double-bill. But it was great nonetheless !

Thanks a lot ! I really think they're great, I was surprised since I put in those pages an announcement about their new release and had no answers. To me it's Magma-ish, but they have their own vibe I think. The drummer is quite nice and a great guy to be around. The gig we did together was good fun !
    Do check them up !

Funny: this track was selected for the local radio-program Xymphonia in June. So you're not alone in your choice.
    I especially love the bass-parts.
