Can anyone ID this one I found clearing a pile of branches and leaves?

I think it is a checkered garter (see image that I found on web below) but they aren't native to my area, southeastern PA, 45 minutes west of Philly. Chester County. Not exactly the wilds.

About 2 years ago, I saw some kind of plant material on the floor in my dark living room. I went to pick it up to throw it in the garbage, but it felt fleshy. When I released my grip, it ran away. Turned out to be a lizard, of the most common type here in the Sonoran Desert.

Funny. Literally about 5 minutes ago I was sweeping some debris in my back yard and I see something weird on the ground. I thought it was a dead grasshopper but when I "swept" it away something bolted out of that dead grasshopper. I caught a glimpse of it and it must've the common Anoli that we have in Florida. But it bolted so fast I think I only saw the tail. We have a lot of invasive reptiles down here though.

Probably an eastern garter snake. Their color/pattern is highly variable.

My cousin agrees. She is in wildlife management. My daughters were alarmed by the triangular head in the photo. My cousin said that many snakes can puff up their head to look triangular and therefore more threatening. Something that I did not know. This guy was real sluggish and not very aggressive, due to the outside temp.
