    Rest in peace.
We're trying to build a monument to show that we were here
It won't be visible through the air
And there won't be any shade to cool the monument to prove that we were here. - Gene Parsons, 1973

Even though I lived in NYC & CA while he was playing and was a Big Blue fan then, after living in WI for 48 years you can't help but be caught up in this state's canonization of Bart Starr, and he was a good man who was inspirationally philanthropic.

    RIP indeed!

He was a legend. In those days the Packers were America's Team. The Flagship of the NFL.

I remember watching him on TV, with my Dad, expressing his wonder about the man. Very good times. Thank you for that gift, Mr. Starr.
I've got a bike you can ride it if you like

Lived in WI in the early 60's and saw The Packers on TV. Never been able to get excited about football after seeing the "mountain top" of Lombardi team. RIP Bart Starr.

Became a Packer fan after walking in the room as a young child during the famous "Ice Bowl" and asking my dad.. "who's the team in Green and Gold?".. "That's the Packers, then he pointed to the quarterback and said.. and he's Bart Starr".. I replied.. "I like that team".. Bart was my hero.. Sad news for this Packer fan..
