    Some great 2019 titles:

Centrum - For Meditation. An absolute killer from Sweden, nordic folk-psych-prog of the highest order. https://centrum.bandcamp.com

Laughing Eye - HNRLP016 Another winner from Sweden. Highly eclectic and creative blend of psych, jazz, kraut that defies categorization and description. The 16mins epic Agnetero is a transcedental hymn that needs to be heard to be believed.
    https://hoganordrekords.bandcamp.com...6-laughing-eye

Dury Dava - s/t. There's been a lot of hype in the internet about Greek psych lately, but I was never really convinced. These guys destroy the competition by a margin. Fantastic raw Kraut/Psych with balkan and eastern aromas. A great debut!

I fixed the link, but it’s worth noting this appears to be a compilation.

I liked this new Kada and had no clue the band existed before hearing this album. Looks like they already have 3 albums released. Here's another great one from Hungary: Front - "Echoes from the Past" (2019)

And the latest (just out) from IZZ "Don't Panic" should be added to this (already long) list:

With the year almost half over here are a couple that really stand out for me. Maybe a few others will dig them.

The first one is a duet album with Ida Toninato (Bari Sax) and Jennifer Thiessen (violin) called The Space Between Us. This is very much in the "drone" ranks but occasionally strays from it when Thiessen in particular starts to pluck her violin. In fact, the last three or four minutes of this recording is just plucked violin and wordless vocals bringing to mind a sort of Japanese folk vibe. It's exquisitely gorgeous by the way!!

Otherwise, a great deal of this record are slow drones that take you on a journey from point A to point B without you realizing till the last minute that you have been on a rather long, strange trip. It's really a record you can get lost in. Unlike alot of Drone based music, you don't necessarily need to play this one LOUD since there are lots of details and minutia hidden within. Take for example the fact that you can hear the circular breathing of Toninato which adds a distinct ghostly element to the proceedings. Also, there are parts where you can hear the violin bow against the strings producing a tone of, well, just that...not the violin, just the bow on a metal wire. Much of this reminds me of early Third Ear Band, so you can use that as a reference point. Additionally, it has a very "Sacred Music" feel to it not unlike something you would hear from Sarah Davachi, another good reference point.

This is a great release by two unknown artists to me (at least). Check out the sample below and if you like it, you will certainly like the whole album.

The second one is by Matt Mitchell called Phalanx Ambassadors (Pi Records). Unfortunately I couldn't find anything but mediocre live recordings on You Tube so I won't post any clip but, this one stands way above the pack of the many avant-jazz/avant prog records out there (in recent memory). (I would also include Anna Webbers recent output in this category too and maybe I'll do a seperate post for her.)

I'm sure many of you know MM from his early stint in T Plague and more recently collaborating with Tim Berne in a few of his groups. This record is nothing short of a tour de force of piano based avant goodness. It should be pretty easy to seek out and I can only give it my extreme HIGHEST recommendation! Go get it!

    best

Nice list! Not sure about Ni being folky in any way, though!

I will definitely check out the Emme Phyzema.
