I put The Sonics, Paul Revere, and The Kingsmen in the "frat rock" bag; the Monks probably would've played a toga party at Delta Tau Chi.

Hell, they ain't even old-timey ! - Homer Stokes
The Nuggets album is pretty much the standard text, although there's a few absentees like '96 Tears' (originally on the Cameo-Parkway label which Allen Klein got hold of...say no more!). And also earlier things like 'Louie Louie' are not on there but that possibly comes down to the 'frat rock' dividing line mogrooves identified.
^Another one not on the original Nuggets (wasn't it on the 4cd box though?), again it may be argued that it's 'frat rock'. Actually that and 'Louie Louie' might have been deemed 'too big' to include...although I'm not sure about US chart positions of the songs that were on Nuggets.
I get the impression the Nuggets box, and its UK equivalent, were assembled more with an eye toward what they could afford to license, and less with the intent of being comprehensive.
