I also disagree with them, and agree with you. I've wondered all along if Daenerys had that mad Targaryen blood that would push her over the edge. Her dad had it, her brother had it...
As I said early on, the way the show has to squash all these storylines into just a handful of final episodes is the main problem. Perhaps there would be (way) less criticism seen in every corner of the net had they allowed the story to unfold at a more appropriate pace. GRR Martin himself has said that he wished there were a couple more seasons still, to properly tell the story.

Yeah, I understand the events and punches in the gut that *could* lead someone to go astray. And D&D made it painfully obvious they were trying to create conditions for everyone to see so that it wouldn't be questioned later.
It would have been more believable for her to go off "in the moment" in a moment of rage (when Missandei was killed for example) than when on the precipice of victory she decides that scorched Earth is the best option. Most of the events in the past 10 or so episodes that has happened to her...and her reaction to them...do not indicate a descent into madness.
I'm sorry, but it doesn't work for me.
WANTED: Sig-worthy quote.
Well Danny did lose her shit and apprpached the abyss when missandei lost her head and then the tipping point IMO was when Jon didn't make out with her and she said words to the effect "If not love, then fear".
Works for me. I had a GF in college (a little blonde bitch in fact), and when she was dumped all fucking hell broke lose! If she had dragons, I and many others would not be here today to tell the tale...

Also, can anyone explain the horse at the end? Perhaps next week we will see like half the town survived (like apparently half the unsullied and dothraki), but currently, it looks like the whole town was destroyed (at least the area was Arya was), sans this magical horse.

Thanks. I did think about a pale horse represented death and initially I thought it meant Arya died and this was some sort of vision of hers (but being she showed up in the coming attractions that theory was quickly dismissed). If it was meant to say she is death, then that seems slightly odd to me, being she choose not to kill Cersei and attempted to help those two people (albeit badly) get to safety.

Maybe Bran is to blame. Perhaps he warged into Dany or Drogon and caused all this shit.

Just finished watching this episode. While on a more intellectual level I understand all the reasons why Dany would lose it, for some reason it just feels like they didn't sell it well.
I like the idea that Tyrion takes out Dany.
<sig out of order>
This is an interesting take on the episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVYrWFiTrXY
She probably will (although I think Jon will get that 'honor'). But it just seems like an odd choice to crown her death after she chose not to kill Cersei, someone who she has wanted to kill since nearly the beginning of the show.
Unless it meant to mean she has finally become 'no one' after giving up Arya's revenge list and will continue on as a true faceless man.

Well that was a great episode, maybe the best ever if taken in isolation. So it seems that all the leaks about the final events of GoT that have been out there for quite some time have come true. I wont repeat them here but it seems the ending will be very disappointing to many but I really like it. I like it because you couldn't have predicted it and life is quite a bit like that.
So,if you haven't seen the leaks, who do you think will sit on the Iron Throne?

Don't know, I still like theses episodes but that wow factor of the former seasons is somehow gone.
It's more like visual impressive and entertaining than breathtaking and surprising as it was before.
By the way the Golden Company had 20K of soldiers. Lines of men weren't very broad before the City
so even if they had 200 men per line (it didn't look like that) it would have been a setup of 100 (!) lines
of men deep!
Or, in the greatest intra-network series crossover in television history, Jon Snow hires Barry to whack Daenerys. Now that's a finale.
Really liked the way this episode started out. Varys' scenes as always, were well done, and I think his execution might be among my favorite scenes from the series.
But all that time spent showing us death and destruction seems just like an excuse for the writers not to have to do more with everything they don't have. Which is Martin's deft touch.
I don't know if we're in the minority, seems like the general reaction around the net that I've seen is in agreement with our view.

Okay, so looking ahead to the finale there are only a handful of characters left. With that said, several of the characters have unfinished stories...or do they? What to expect?
Sansa - My *guess* is that she would end up "Queen of the North" unless she takes the throne (if there's a throne left to take). But either way her story seems unfinished to me. Since returning to Winterfell, she's been essentially the "hand" and a plotter, but not much else. Or, she dies.
Arya - The symbolism of her riding on the horse makes her "death". Maybe this is significant for a few reasons. Maybe she can't escape that she will be an assassin for life. The obvious angle is that she will kill Dany and then go on to star in a number of Marvel films. Or, she dies.
Bran - Did he already serve his purpose when he gave Arya the dagger and confirmed Jon's lineage? My mind runs wild with possibilities for this guy. Could have been the horse? Could he have warged into Drogon? Could he have warged into Dany? Will we discover that he manipulated many of the events of the show? My feeling is that you wouldn't describe Bran as a villain or antagonist, but as a neutral force serving a greater agenda. Or, he dies.
Jon - I would *like* to believe Melisandre that the Lord of Light resurrected him for a purpose. That purpose would seem not to be that he would rule the seven kingdoms. It would feel to me that once that purpose has been served, he dies (much like we saw with Beric). Killing TNK might have been the obvious path in that regard, but that didn't happen. Killing Dany seems the obvious path now. Or, he dies.
Tyrion - He seems destined to survive. Now that his siblings are gone, it's difficult to see his path going forward. He could become king, could kill Dany. He could marry Sansa and rule with her. He could ride away on a boat to a far away land. The vast majority of his motivating factors are resolved. He may be pissed off at Dany, but killing her doesn't seem like something he'd try to do. Or, he dies.
Dany - I found it interesting that you didn't see Dany's face much or at all once she decided to burn the innocents. Given that showing facial expressions seem so important to the show and we frequently would see Dany in previous times she was airborne, I wonder why they didn't just take the extra step and see her screaming with rage or cackling wickedly. Anyway, so she's Darth Targaryen now. She only has one episode to redeem herself. But at the speed this is going, she'll announce she's pregnant and give birth. Or, she dies.
Drogon - I figure he must be hungry. He got quite the workout. Or maybe he's the one that went mad.
Tormond - As time goes on, my hopes he will appear with Ghost are dwindling.
Gendry - Maybe he can use Podrick as his wingman, use his clout as Lord of Storm's End, and find a new Lady every night.
Podrick - He's going to catch some sort of VD if he's not careful.
Brienne - She goes where Sansa goes. Of course, she'll learn of Jaime's death and take it out on...oh right.
Davos - He gets really pissed when fire is used to burn innocents, so I'd imagine he'll get toasted when trying to take a swing at Dany.
Grey Worm - He dies defending Dany or otherwise as some tool to move the plot forward.
Yara - I guess she just lives on as leader of the Iron Islands. I mean, if Euron and Theon are dead, what's the point?
Bronn - Lannisters always pay their debts. Will Bronn come to collect?
Sam & Gilly - I guess out of the show at this point.
Jaqen - Could the Faceless man return? What role would he play? Is he going to reveal he's actually Syrio?
Who else?

As for Davos, I suspect he's going to head north and get fat on snack foods.
