It does sound a bit strange, but it was a really great show, Carl is amazing especially if you compare him to others his age, trying to do anything as complex as this let alone getting as worked up as he does. Simon Fitzpatrick is a great Stick and Bass player, and Paul Bielatowicz is a wonderful guitarist. In my opinion it works quite well, i was exhausted after the show and I didn't even play.
Yes tend these days to alternate package tours one year and touring on their own the next year.
Why do they do it? Because they sell well. There are ticket buyers who want the songs they know, the hits, and are attracted to having several related bands. There are other ticket buyers who want all of Tales from Topographic Oceans played. And obviously considerable overlap.

I think I'll buy tickets for the Baltimore show. Oddly enough, I've never seen Yes in concert, even thought I'm a fan. It's something I've always meant to do, but for whatever reason never have. It's late in the day, so every opportunity might be the last. Better do it this time.
Hopefully 45 minute sets from each, and a encore. Woudl take the family, but they would HATE it!

I can also vouch for how good Palmer's show is. I have seen them twice and fully enjoyed both concerts. Carl is still a monster player and Simon & Paul are not only superb players (they blew my mind) but also very nice and willing to chat. (Too bad Simon won't be on tour.) Carl is also very accommodating with fans.
I am on the fence on this show because it is not great timing for me and I am not much of an Asia fan. We'll see...
And by the way, that Press Release is fairly modest as far as PR's go.

Very true, to some extent.
Same keyboardist and bassist and could be guitarist but Howe only will do a "cameo". So to keep things interesting, they hired a prog-metal guitarist.
But big difference at the drum kit: Alan White like many other drummers (Collins, Peart, Bruford) is not retiring but now days has limited live playing capabilities.
Now look at Carl Palmer: has the physicality, stamina and endurance of a 25 year at an age almost 70, leads his own band and gives no signs of giving up playing the drums and very skillfully I might add and has incredible showmanship!
So IMHO, Palmer is where the "pretty much the same band" completely tips the scale on Asia's side. The logo on the bass drum says it all, he is the sole survivor.

Roger Dean has just been added to the bill with nightly exhibitions of his artwork.
And for $30 he will draw your silhouette and make your head look like a floating rock!
Well, no guarantees, but I would love to finally meet the one and only Roger Dean who apparently was hugely influenced by James Cameron. ;-)
