I was just listening to this:

I don't normally associate Eberhard Weber with cranking out a monstrous groove on electric bass, but just listen to him here! Absolutely killer.

Something by more recent releases that are off the top of my head: incredible Jean-Francois Desilets' bass-line & solo at 'Fall'n Fly' from 'The Black Hole' album by Hamadryad (2017).

I'd just heard "The Real Me" from Quadrophenia, and that definitely rockets to the top of my list of favorite Entwistle bass lines.
"Arf." -- Frank Zappa, "Beauty Knows No Pain" (live version)

Always loved John Entwistle. "Bass solos" are rarely this entertaining....

Thanks for posting that. Lot of great posts on this thread. Never saw this one so it was real treat. Nice guitar from Jorma as well.

here's an easy but effective Bass line that makes the booty move... unless yo dead

Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?
