another one gone too soon (49). i really enjoyed THE PRODiGY back in the day and they provided many a memorable allnighter in my younger days. pleased to see them regain traction and productivity later on and i am sure that there are many more (erstwhile) progheads that could easily latch on to their relentless electronica/bigbeat/punk hybrid. farewell, firestarter.
Yeah, sad, apparently they were prepping for a USA tour, always liked their pop hits. Seems to be a suicide though he had a long history of drug issues.

Pretty shocking news, another local musician leaves the scene, that’s three in a week, he only lives a few miles from me. They were never my favourites, I never bought the music, but I saw them more than once headlining a local festival, and he sure could excite the crowd. RIP.
My mate posted this tribute on Facebook, which made me smile...
Back in the mid-eighties, my then girlfriend's younger brother, with whom we were sharing a house used to have his mates round. One of them was a painfully shy double-denimed biker by the name of Keith.
You'd always hear him giving it loads as you walked in the room, but as soon as anyone out of their teens arrived, he immediately clammed up and stared at the floor until you left.
You'd get a few words out of him occasionally, if you offered him a cup of tea for instance, but all in all, he was a bit like Kathy Burke's Perry whenever Mrs Patterson came in the room.
A few years later, the ex-girlfriend's brother said to me:
“I see Keith's band are doing well.”
“Keith's in a band?” I asked, amazed, “What? Shy Keith?”
“Yeah... They're called The Prodigy.”
It's always the quiet ones. R.I.P.
Sad. I have a disc or two by The Prodigy.
At first I assumed limelight withdrawl, but they were still active. You never know what's going on inside a person.

I vividly recall a simulcast of [The] Prodigy performing at some fest (Knebworth?). Flint was doing his tongue wag, and let a slobber spear roll right off like an errant stalactite.
That more or less summed up the band for me.

Never been great on house, but I liked the aggression of that song.
