What web browser are you using?

There seems to be many theses days. I was using both Internet Explorer and also Firefox. I had heard IE isn't very safe for web browsing. What are you using these days, and why?

I usually use Chrome, but sometimes I use Firefox because some sites don't behave on Chrome.

Good one. Couldn't figure out how to get Stiv's name into a browser.

Firefox. Used to use Safari, then heard it was compromised somehow about a year ago.

Here's an article I ran into today, which rates various browsers. Some I'd never heard of. I was using Firefox pretty exclusively, and then it updated some time back and got a bit wonky. I think it finally ironed itself out. I also bought a new computer a few months back which is an Acer one of their budget models off Amazon. I wished I had stayed with Dell as you can tell slight differences in quality. For example the DVD burner in the Acer feel more like a laptop burner--not a huge deal breaker, but worth noting.

Curious to know what brand computer you're using as well. Thanks. Just curious.

Chrome is going to have the best real time spell check, for posting to forums such as this. Google just has a knack for knowing what you mean to type, versus what you actually type.

Pretty much my experience as well. For sites that totally freak at the sight of an ad-block I use Microsuck Edge.

I'm using an Acer laptop which has a DVD burner.

I've never used the burner on my Acer until trying it recently, and I'm using Windows Media Player, however it won't recognize the blank disc for a burn. Any idea what wrong with it?

Firefox with the No-script and privacy badger add-ons.
Do not like chrome or edge. I use them If I have to.
We still have to use IE at work for certain applications.

One of the "improvements" they made to Windows Media Player in Windows 10 was to remove its ability to even play DVDs. You have to find a 3rd party solution for that.

Have you tried the Burn to disc functionality directly from Windows File Explorer?

No, I've never heard of it. I'll have to Google it.

I was able to burn DVDs using Windows Media Player, so I don't know what the problem could be. Just to clarify though, I'm only copying files to the DVD, like .AVI files, or .MKV. I'm not burning disk images, or copying DVDs.

Safari for browsing (like now), Firefox for web development, Chrome for porn.

Oh, wait, I didn't mean that.

Yeah, it's not recognizing any files. I thought it was a bad DVD drive, but it'll play CDs. So I dunno. Thanks.

You should be able to burn a DVD with Windows File Explorer, but to play it back you'll need a 3rd party program like VLC, as markwoll mentioned.

Is there a version of Safari for Windows? I never even thought of that. For general browsing I just want the fastest, most reliable browser that's not a memory hog. That's all I ask.

I doubt it. It's not the best browser, anyway. I'm a Mac user.

The big questions are when is PE going to add SSL security (looooooong overdue, boys) and become GDPR-compliant (required by law)?

    Was
    Safari for Windows
Apple no longer offers Safari updates for Windows. Safari 5.1.7 for Windows was the last version made for Windows, and it is now outdated.
