I’d say Open Your Eyes without Steve Howe.
I like it (except the solo and outro sections which are pretty tepid).
I am actually a big Outfield fan...and I quite like a few songs off OYE’s.

Another Outfield fan! If that song was on OYE it would be the second best song after the title track.

There's a group I had completely forgotten about. There was one summer in the 80s where they were all over the radio. Then nothing... Funny I don't recall them being Yeswest sound-alikes back then.

Good song, though. With someone like Rabin on guitar to give it a little bite and some more creative production this could have been a major hit in the Big Generator era.

Yeah, definitely more of a Sherwood/Squire big vocal sound than a Rabin/Anderson big vocal sound. This really sounds like Sherwood wrote and produced it. I even googled to make sure he didn't.

I never realized the Outfield sounded like this! I like it. As much as I'm not a huge fan of Open Your Eyes it would be an improvement over some of the tracks on that album. Thanks for posting this Sean!

After a second listen, this could also go on the Ladder. Throw away the awful, ear bleeding Finally and replace it with this Outfield song = better album.

I liked the hits when they were on the radio but never listened to the albums. Then on a whim, I got Big Innings, their greatest hits and that really grew on me. To me, all of their music is summer music.

they have had their share of cool tracks. it’s all very 1989 yacht rock but let’s give THE OUTFIELD some love.

I really liked The Outfield, back in the day.

Were they always baseball themed? I didn't know they sounded like this either, it's not bad. I thought they were more early 80s.

The Outfield is one of my favorite bands. John Spinks was a great songwriter and guitarist. Tony Lewis, the singer/bassist, sounds like Sting meets Jon Anderson. Their original drummer, Alan Jackman, left after their 3rd album and they never fully recovered.
I highly recommend their debut "Play Deep" and "Voices of Babylon".
Many assume that they are an American band , but they are very British. They are virtually unknown in the UK though.

I really like it, and I just listened to Photograph from Replay on YT, and it sounds very Yessy as well.

Good luck tracking down the cd. They cost around $300!

They were originally called The Baseball Boys after the gang in the late 70s movie "Warriors". The record company changed it to The Outfield. The band at the time knew nothing of baseball.

It is incredible how many cool songs they put out. I like everything off of Big Innings and then maybe 15 more. 30 songs.

Yeah, this is definitely Open Your Eyes for sure (and I don't have anything against most of OYE so that's not a bad thing).

I also like OYE, but I don't think the whole album is full of stellar songs and some don't hold up to the quality of earlier material.
However, I think a average Yes album is still better than a lot of music being produced and released today.

Sounds like equal parts Owner, Rhythm Of Love and early Conspiracy to me.
