That was a smart move by the Nats holding Scherzer out of the game. Now they pitch the first two game winners and take the series. MLB really needs to do something about the umpiring behind home plate.

    Expect the unexpected.

All I can say is that, if the Nats lose, they will look at Game 3 and their 0 for 10 with RISP as the biggest reason why.

    And at first base.

    I guess, in general.

I've done a little arbiting in my time. Not easy.
Perhaps finding the happy medium is harder than we know.

    Game 7 it is!

This turned out to be quite a fun series. And now we have a Schillingesque moment of sorts where Max Scherzer, one of the most successful pitchers of the decade, has a chance to play through an injury and be a hero. But he has to face Greinke, another one of the decade's best pitchers, who was wearing a Diamondbacks uniform 3 months ago.

thank god the Nats won so we don't have to talk about that call. at least its kinda funny to see the MLB get to witness NFL-style officiating first hand

not letting Stras finish the game was a curious decision. would think you'd want Doolittle as fresh as possible.

interesting stat at the end of the broadcast - of the ~1400 playoff series' played across MLB, NBA, and NHL, this is the first time the road team has won the first 6. I guess home field advantage is a very real thing...

I might just have to watch all of game 7. I've checked in often on the other games and watched some, but not all. I'm really not sure who I'm rooting for. I started off rooting for the 'Stros, but I don't mind seeing them knocked down a peg, either.

I guess I'll just root for a good game.

there are a lot of good reasons to root for the Nats

    1) they've never been to a WS before
    2) Max Scherzer rising from the grave to pitch g7 is a cool storyline
    3) would mean the road team won all 7 games so everyone goes home unhappy
    4) lol Bryce Harper

LOL, well he did predict a World Series win for Washington.

I think all the "storylines" lean towards the Nats, even coming back from down 0-2. There isn't much unique or special about this Astros team or the players. It's pretty much the same team that won a few years back.

Bregman is an ASS. As far as the call @ first? That never should have been made in a WS game. Spring training, maybe, but not a WS game 6.

It would have been the correct call if he would have actually interfered, but since he beat a bad throw to first base he should have been called safe. It seems kind of silly that you have to run to first base out of bounds and your last step go left onto an elevated platform at full speed possibly spraining or breaking your ankle.

Apparently, the rule was made to protect the 1st. Baseman much like the "Chase Utley" rule regarding hard slides. MLB dodged a bullet with last night's call not being a deciding factor.

I wonder if you are in a run down between third and home if you have to run in foul ground to get back to third.

Directions to get to 1st base.
Leave the batters box in fair territory.
    Run straight toward the base.
At the first double line, veer right towards foul territory.
10 feet before the base, veer left toward the base in fair territory.
    Run straight.
Do not make contact with the baseman even if he is purposely contacting you.
If a bad throw is going to hit you in the rear use the eyes in the back of your head to avoid the ball.

The base path is six feet wide. If you run outside that, you're out.

So is the first base side the same way, three and three.

Unlike the other base paths, the first base line has a lane in the last 45 feet. If you run outside of the lane, you can be called out for interference.

Looks like the Astros are going to win since they scored first and that Mattress guy will win 22 million dollars.

History is made. No wins by the home team. Un-freaking-believable. Congrats to the Nats.
