I love that rich Tangram-redness. A full Oedipus Tyrannus...nice.
Well, that's a lot more than I expected. 16 CDs. 8 of them previously unreleased. Cool. I don't normally go for the big boxes, but it is tempting.

Any word if they are going to also put this out in bite sized boxes like Pink Floyd?

Any ideas where to order from?
"Always ready with the ray of sunshine"
I preordered from here:

I guesss thiss will have to go on the "save for later" list.
Ssssso, iss the Royal Albert Hall show the ssssame version that appeared on the Bootleg boxset that came out about 15 or so years ago, or is did they manage to track down the massssster tape?
So will all this Steven Wilson-izing of old TD albums mean his next one will have phat analog synths all over it?
One can dream...
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.
I'm pretty stoked for this. I have to start saving up.
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
Dammit. I bought it. This year is a monumental wallet killer.
"Why is it when these great Prog guys get together, they always want to make a Journey album?"
- fiberman, 7/5/2015
Actually, I was thinking more of Spidiron, a villain from an episode of a mid 70's British sci-fi show called The Tomorrow People (which I think would predate Cobra Commander by something liek a decade). "Sssssso long, Sssstein!", I think was one of his lines.
Anyway, it actually started as a pair of typos, and I kinda got carried away with trying to make it look deliberate. Or something.
Sssssso, about that Royal Albert Hall show, is this taken from teh same master that all the TD fans have in their bootleg collections, or did they manage to track the original master in the BBC archive?
This year is a monumental wallet killer.
This year?! Man, it's been like that for me, every year for at least the last 15 years. Grateful Dead, King Crimson, Kate Bush, and everyone else have been sucking me dry for ages now! And David Bowie is doing it to me from beyond the grave. Even now, I'm seriously thinking of pulling the trigger on the Pink Floyd Early Years box.

Burning Shed are also going to stock it. They sent me a confirmation email yesterday and will be announcing pricing etc very shortly.
Given the care they take with packaging, I might go with them.......unless my local record store gets sets in.
re: Wilson's remixes:
That assumes he has any interest in doing them. Remember, he did the first two ELP albums only, because those were the only ones he really liked. It may be possible he never cared for Tangram and beyond.
Besides, I think he's got the Nino Tempo & April Stevens catalog to do next. (Yeah, I know I'm beating that joke to death).
Oh, I KNOW it's not going to happen. To be perfectly honest, I'm fine with the way everything released during those years already sounds.
That was the official line, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he decided to walk after a disagreement with one of the trio. The two albums SW did remix were held up for quite a while before finally getting a belated release.
Either that or he had a falling out with the record label over quality control - his ELP albums turned out ok, but the BSS reissue was a disaster, audiowise. Jakko's remixes relegated to the bonus disc or the 5.1 disc in the expensive box set.
I'd be surprised if he hadn't originally hoped to do Trilogy and BSS, given how he's remixed every Tull title from the debut through to Stormwatch, and the first ten Crimson albums.
Personally, I just think he was being discreet about his experience with ELP, which is more than Palmer was when he dismissed the remixes in an interview last year.
I know we're getting a lot of TD stuff lately, but I also recently got an e-mail announcing that Volume 3 of the Bootleg Box series is coming out in the next few months. It includes a US show from the time of Encore and a Schmoelling-era show.
When it rains it pours?!

My issue isn't remixes, so much as whatever unreleased stuff there is in the vaults. That's what I want to hear. I know by that time, the live stuff was largely the same from night to night, but it'd be great if we could get let's say one show from each tour, unedited and without overdubs. On the other hand, the bootlegs we do have sound so good, it's kind of a moot point, really.
Thanks for the heads up on all this. The set looks incredible.
One question I do have, and apologies if already discussed, but......
Earlier this year I saw it advertised that a deluxe box set purely made up of the Coventry Cathedral gig was due. What has happened to that?
