I'd tend to go with CP and Squigely on this one. In fact I have an email from CP on September 8th stating "that in the week ahead the edited recording of the RAH show will be sent off to the authoring stage for encoding, once that is complete it will go to manufacturing for the final stage. It will ship 4 to 6 weeks from the email date, Sep 8th". It also noted that no copies will be released to commercial resources until orders made through CP have been filled... Well having said all that I'm thrilled there will be a CD release of this as well, they were clearly on the fence about that. I expect that to get a great deal of play in my car!
Update: checked my Amazon account order page and found this message with the Camel preorder: Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. Please check back again

got email from camel productions saying 2cd will be released only if enough pre orders when available
As far as not releasing this concert on cd, I totally understand it. We live in an age where people are buying less physical copies of anything, and the demand simply doesn't justify the risk of making x amount of cds.
I am grateful they took the opportunity to record this concert in Blu Ray and for those of us who don't have the opportunity to see Camel perform live, it's the next best thing.
I researched if Camel had released any of their other DVDs with cds(or separately) as part of the package and I couldn't find any example where they did.
So this isn't unusual for them.
As far as having it in cd format, isn't it possible to copy the audio from the DVD and burn your own cd of it?
I've never done it, but it seems like it would be possible.

I added a 5-port HDMI switcher to our TV setup recently, and my wife didn't understand why. I explained it made it easier to switch from, for example, TV to the DVD player. My wife uttered the words "DVDs? Who watches DVDs?" to which I replied, "Well, I do." She's about to turn 50! She's already forsaken all physical media except books.
good to know, thanks. There ya go folks, make your own cds from the Blu Ray.
Times have certainly changed in my lifetime, but our parents and grandparents went through similar changes.
Many lived their lives with radio, b&w tv, vinyl records and went to a theater to watch a movie..omg, remember Drive-Ins..lol
Then along came 8 tracks you could actually install in your car and play music rather than be a passive listener with a radio. Then cassettes, VHS and finally CDs.
Maybe I'm just nostalgic, but somehow these changes giving us streaming, the cloud, etc seem different. Before there were always physical things that were changed, now it's like a castle built on sand, the slightest wind bringing the whole "wizard behind the curtain in Oz" thing down.
Remember the massive electricity grid that hit several states for a couple of days.
My wife is an avid lover of books, real books, those things one holds in their hands and turn the paper pages with your fingertips. I got her a notebook one Christmas so she could download books and not have to worry about stockpiling them(like records and dvds they somehow magically multiply quickly like Tribbles).
After a couple of digital books, the notebook went in the dresser drawer and paperback books began multiplying again. lol

Never Let Go was also released, a 2 cd Dust and Dreams show from 1992. The Paris collection is a partial 1 disc from the 2000 tour.
Well if not a cd how about a digital release. I'm not sure if you are like me but DVD/Bluray's will get watched a few times... some once sadly once but a cd or download will get played very often. Nothing like putting on a great LP or live show on a long road trip! Also I would imagine cd's are very cheap to produce but having said that I'm sure their bean counter has ran the numbers. I might just have to get some real computer skills and figure out how to rip the audio from DVD!
Thanks, I was aware of that but it was decades ago and didn't feel it was relevant. But in hindsight perhaps I should've written "recently".
As noted above, I was aware of that release, however it was decades ago. I also have Never Let Go and Dust and Dreams.
I'm not sure if you are aware of it or not, but Camel Productions is not a big label, in fact it's run by Andy and his wife Susan.
From Disography site:
Camel Productions is a record company and label established by Andrew Latimer and his wife Susan Hoover (2) in 1991, to secure the future of the group Camel.
"CP", as it is affectionately called, is owned and operated by and solely for Camel. A full-time operation run by a dedicated few with the blessing of a support structure provided by friends and fans alike, CP concentrates on Camel only, accepting no other bands.
So they have no bean counter to answer to other than themselves.
Unlike yourself, I tend to watch concerts more often. I love watching the musicians play live and see the interaction and response from the audience. Also if there is good lighting, I like the ambience added as well.
I'm kind of weird, I don't listen to music in the car. I was a delivery driver for 15 years and spent 8 hours a day in a car, listening to the radio. So I became use to being quiet when I was driving off the clock.
My wife and I don't go on roadtrips, we're retired and enjoy more time at home or locally at the beach.
Maybe someone here could post some tips on how to transfer DVD audio to a cd that would help ease the pain of this show not being on cd.

I use this, a program called DVD Audio Extractor

Fully aware of the way CP is run in fact I was lucky enough to live near Andy and Susan when they were in the USA and saw them around area. Andy himself used to deliver cd's to a few local places one in particular he shopped at. Anyway my point was this, through the 2000 tour they released live music from tours including the on the road series so I selfishly perhaps was hoping for something like that from this tour. The bean counter I referenced was not some high paid accountant but may have been Andy, Susan or Daniel themselves... just a figure of speech. Simply said a few of us are in the minority... people don't but cd's often any longer and someone on team CP is aware of that. Also my point about watching vs. listening was just that there are far more opportunities to listen than watch at least in my life.
I too am on the road often as I am in sales. I listen to a mix of talk and music. Far less talk over the last two years... Not hard to figure out why at least here in the USA!
Thanks for sharing that, hope someone can try it.
I use NCH Software Suite for my conversions, but I've yet to do a DVD audio cd. Great company and the cost is fair imo, plus they have some free demos to try out. I used them to convert my WAV to mp3 for years, and finally bought the suite version. https://www.nchsoftware.com/
I totally understand about wanting cd format, at present I still don't stream and either buy cds or new and used vinyl.
Ah yes, talk radio. I would go back and forth between talk radio and classic rock stations. After years of talk radio and the rise in hateful commentary, I became weary and by the time I got home I felt frustrated enough to yell at the dog.
So I quit listening. In fact I am on a no news sabbatical. I changed my homepage to DuckDuckGo https://duckduckgo.com/ and just visit websites I enjoy. Journalism today has become a cross between the National Enquirer, Crime Monthly and either of the 2 major political parties..whatever you feel about Trump he is totally right on about one thing, and it's fake news just for the sake of news.(I am not a supporter btw).
Life is much sweeter without the news and the horrible crime and animal abuse stories featured daily, hourly and minute by minute breaking bad news! lol
Try it, because the news mantra only frustrates and angers us and lowers our quality of life in my opinion. Our personal day to day lives are hard enough without the media poking a stick at you every minute.
Back on track, cool story about Andy Latimer. I do think at his age, the loss of his father, his health problems, they are trying to keep life a lot simpler and if that means no cds then so be it.
Be safe out there while working on the road. And keep the music loud!

I think you may have misinterpreted my intent with the use of the word, relevant wasn't in terms to the quality of the music or the concert, it was released at a time when cds were common.
Our discussion was about Camel possibly not releasing this on cds. I then went back and refreshed my memory and their last 3 DVDs did not have cd releases.
I agree with you Coming of Age is a excellent show, but I have so many favorites it's hard to choose one "most favorite".
Great news about the CD being released, how did we get these confusing posts on here? lol
BTW: Amazon has updated my preorder ship date to: Oct 10, 2019
